De Atramentis Sepia ..... Sepia ????

A Little while ago fellow member Visvamitra posted another of his excellent Reviews. This time De Atramentis Sepia

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/291331-sepiabraun-de-atramentis/

Although Visvamitra is a Fan of De Atramentis in general he is not a fan of reddish Browns as I understand it....

And he thought the colour was not sepia..

that is what I and most of us thought so........ :excl: :excl: :excl:

Here is Lord Jansener a.k.a the Famous Dr J

To Help you I will insert some scans of written texts an Ink Vomitus and I added a Ink Sampler form so that this becomes a short review at the same time :)

I love the colour reddish Brown less red than i.e Waterman Havanna Brown or De Atrametntis Wilhelm 2

It is more like an EARTH (TERRE) Brown

http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/D-A%20Rename%20my%20ink/rename%20comparison_zps0r32hwdp.jpg

Somehow this resembles J. Herbin terre de Feu another ink I love dearly

Where the Herbin inks tend to be on the dry side this D-A sepia is a lot wetter like most of the De Atramentis inks

Down here I did some tests

Too Conclude

Very well behaving ink smooth wet and quickly drying I like reddish Browns So I like this Ink too... But I do not believe it is Sepia

But You are going to help here :excl: :D :excl: :)

Raspberry Chocolate or Cherry Chocolate (either name would make me buy it :) )

Devil's Food or Red Velvet (cakes where the red is drawn out of chocolate with soda or vinegar)

Auburn

Fertile Ground

Sunda Colugo (exotic animal)

Black Forest (cake)

Oh yeah, there's that second question too: rather than rely on color inaccuracies on monitors, the best way to see true sepia is to go to a fish market and ask for some cuttlefish ink. That is the real, authentic sepia. People use it to cook with so it should be available. And seeing it in person eliminates the iffyness of colors online.

Maybe Red Earth?

As for the sepia colour, I think the colour of R&K Sepia is pretty correct IMO.

Thanks merci Terre Rouge? :-)

Nice if you to notice about the cuttlefish

The wikipedia text in dutch is all about that

You guys, until I read this thread, I wasn't hungry. Now, I'm searching the office for chocolate.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

I would apologize, except chocolate is an antioxidant and therefore good for you. How's that for justification?

I really like the chocolate options - cherry chocolate (or chocolate cherry) or black forest cake or bavarian forest cake or devil's food cake all rather sum it up :-)

Cheers,
