My White Pen Collection Is Slowly Coming Along...

They look great together! I quite like the look of white pens, too, but what I like most about them is how they age and get grubby over time. I have a Staedtler Initium in white maple that I've intentionally stained with inky fingerprints.

The Pilot Prera comes in a lovely Ivory that would look right at home in your collection.

The section is in metal?

The Ondoro is indeed a lovely pen, though my two are orange and smoked oak; I don't have the white.

Like the OP I have the m400 white tortoise and love it; the combination of the gorgeously translucent tortoiseshell and the solid white is inspired. I also just managed to acquire a Waterman Charleston in 'ivory' - a lovely pen, loosely based on the Waterman Hundred Year Pen, that's definitely worth considering for any white pen collection - it has a small but perfectly formed 18k nib, and while all you can find the black version all over the place, the white version is not very common. The mix of gold trim and white pen with black section and black accents on the barrel band gives it startlingly good looks, whereas I find the black-and-gold version rather banal. It's discontinued, but comes up occasionally on ebay.

There are several Indian white options, and these are relatively inexpensive for the most part. I remember that one of the Deccan pens comes in a white version; https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/204372-the-deccan-masterpiece-in-white/ (and actually, I must put my mind to getting one of those, since I love my black Deccans but could sometimes do with a change).

And ASA Pens came out with a lovely white 'Swan' a little while ago (http://asapens.in/eshop/asa-swan-3-in-1-filling-fully-handmade-acylic-fountain-pen-india), though it's currently out of stock.

Fountain Pen Revolution has the Guider Zimbo in white, http://fountainpenrevolution.com/guider.html. And that actually does appear to be in stock.

Sorry, did I hear someone say 'enabler'? :-)

Too many pens, too little time!

My first pen was a white Lamy Safari, but I think that the only white pen that I'm hoping to add to my collection one day is a white Pilot Vanishing Point. It wouldn't even be because of the convenience of its design, just because I love how smooth it looks, if that makes any sense.

Ha ha ha, YES...yes they did!!

That makes total sense...hence one of the reasons why it is on my wishlist too. I have been bouncing back and forth between the white Vanishing Point and the white pearl Decimo, and I keep leaning towards the vanishing point. It is just so sleek and clean.

Nice! I have quite enjoyed my TWSBI!

We are nothing if not enablers. ;)

If you get into collecting something like Esterbrook J series. Then is it all colors (6; black, red, copper, green, blue, gray) of all types (at least 4; transitional, J, LJ, SJ) which would be 24 pens, or just a single color of each type which would be 4 pens. I chose ALL. One can go nuts in this collecting business.

Ester brooks so far?

Black Bell Systems LJ

Green J

Would like to at least get an SJ... maybe red? Not sure how I feel about transitional.

Brad,

PM me, I think I have a red SJ that I can make you a deal on.

I'll even put my pen pal letter in with the pen, now that the SF Pen Show is over. Man talk about stress.

I can't find a mini white rose gold anywhere :(

They are discontinued. I try to get a new one in Europe for more than six months, they are all sold or used. :(

That's a pretty little collection! I've got the metro, but sadly, I'm not a fan of the white for myself, even though they're pretty pens, because I wind up smearing ink all over somehow after I fill it, and I never manage to clean it all up even though I think I do! Kinda like eating bbq in a white t-shirt, doesn't matter how clean you are, it's gonna wind up dripping, I guess! :D

  • 4 weeks later...

The one on the left was what first peaked my interest in fountain pens. Not sure if I regret walking down this path or not.

Nothing like a clean, white pen. Of course, they tend to show ink quickly. I only have one, but it's the one white pen I was hunting.

You.must be tired of that plain white pen by now. I'd be more than happy to take it in as an orphan and give it a great home amongst its brothers and sisters. :-P

I appreciate your kind and generous offer. If this one ever gets tired of playing book-end to the black and silver ones, I'll keep you in mind. :P :P

Did you have a look at the white Parker Sonnet special edition pen already?

If you are referring to the Parker Sonnet Great Expectations special edition Contort Purple Cisele...then YES!! A pen that is white and purple (my favorite color) is my dream pen, however, sadly it is quite a bit out of my current price range. If you are referring to a different white Parker Sonnet, please provide a link...I would love to see it!

No, I mean the Sonnet in the pearl (with rose gold) finish.

Ah, I just did a search for this pen and it is lovely! Thanks for the heads up! I quite like the white and rose gold combo (fell in love with it on my TWSBI mini) and this one does not disappoint. The only thing I would change about the Parker is to cover the nib in rose gold too. It would be similar then to the Montegrappa Fortuna white with rose gold, however, the price on that pen is just too high to just get a steel nib IMHO. Perhaps my opinion would change if I could take it for a test drive. Regardless, I have been quite interested in getting a Parker, and since the Sonnet Great Expectations special edition Contort Purple Cisele is a bit out of price range right now, I think I may set my sights on this pearl. Thanks!!

The problem with a color collection is how do you organize your collection.

I collect 'flighters' and I do not have them all together, my collection is organized by manufacturer then model. So my flighters are spread out in my collection.

So are the few white pens that I have.

It would be nice to have enough $$$$ to have duplicate pens, so that I can have my collection organized by manufacturer and model, and a separate collection for just the flighters, and white pens, and ....
