Lamy Imporium - New Lamy On The Market?

I got mine in today, along with a matching ballpoint. I liked the looks of the black gold model, but have too many in that color scheme. I wanted a very modern looking pen so I chose the titanium finish.

Looking at it you would thing all the grooves it might be uncomfortable to hold, but the opposite is true, at least for me. I do like the weight and it is a very heavy pen. I do not sit and write for long periods of time, so weight is not a problem for me.

Regards

Jeff

let's just say its the revival of the "persona" but of a different breed...

so Im presuming the difference with the persona are as follows

nib and feed (persona used a conical shaped nib)

the cap lost the roll stopper from the (Persona MK2)

no longer is it the persona proprietary converter but the standard Z23 converter?

the the cap lost its guilloche pattern

I have the Persona model and find it a great pleasure to use. When I saw the new Imporium, the similarities were immediately obvious to me (as to so many others on this forum).

I have to say, I really like the look of the black-and-gold nib on the Imporium. But I don't like it enough to pay the price Lamy is asking for a reworked Persona.

(though I would like to get hold of just the nib to put on a Studio, or perhaps my black Safari - it looks like it would fit...)

Thanks to Algester for pointing out the differences between the two models - can anyone add to the list?

The first run of Personas didn't have any ball to prevent the pen from rolling. My guess is that Lamy thought that the shape of the pen would be enough, which is not. The major difference here is that the clip does not retract, hence the ball is not necessary.

Another major change are the threads at the section: about a third of a turn will open the Persona and it is as convenient to use as a slip or clic cap. The design here is just amazing, even if it has some consequences. This feature seems to have disappeared here, and my guess is that you would need one or two turn to uncap the pen.
