What a beauty, and it invites you to take it in hand and put it to paper...

A very classic design Dr. Sreekumar. I like the addition of the pseudo cap bands (or perhaps they are real bands). In any case, it adds aesthetic grandeur and balance to the pen. The section has a neat initial taper, which I could foresee being comfortable in the hands. I would be very keen on purchasing one from you!

Congrats on your first one.

Can you let me know your opinion on the exposed lip of the nib unit, I am always in two minds on this issue even when I am installing the nib units. If the lip is hidden into the section, the section ends up too wide for the shoulder width of the nib, so the nib ends up looking small as compared to section, if it is kept exposed, it does not gel well aesthetically with the section. In this matter I love the lipless Pelikan nib units.

Best

Congratulations on a beautiful pen Sree!

A quick question, what is the material you have used for the bands? Are they bands or is that some inlay work?

Hi Hari,

I do not have much experience with threaded nib units. In this particular design unknowingly I have done like section

smoothing evenly along with nib lip like this.

I think if the section is wider like many of Kim designs, the nib lip protruding out may be creating aesthetic problems -

But the thicness also going to help out by creating the outer rim to be more than 1 mm ( My arbitary margin for minimum thickness in ebonite designs). even if that is going to make the nib appears smaller , that will be better for sturdiness in my opinion.

Bharaat,

i have used a type of laquer used in jewellary works for cap bands. its resistant to wear and tear, and more so after application of CA..
