Unique Mystery Ink...no Known Info...yet!

It's sooo pretty. I have to stop falling in love with 75 year old inks!

Okay, my phone camera, for whatever reason tries to color correct everything! GRRRRR! I love this color! I have no idea if it is close to the originally intended shade, but this is how I re-hydrated it to be!

 

If the paper were the correct white, you could tell the color better, but it's a semi greenish teal...to me. No clue if it's the original ink, but the way the stuff is dried inside, it's been there for awhile!

 

Love the color, it worked well with my dip pen (need a cheap, EASY to clean pen to try it in!

 

When you wash the paper, there is still ink left behind.. I suck at ink reviews and was fighting with the dip points, so this is all I did.

We now know color, but that's it! That's the easy part! *grin*

The dip nib was digging into the rhodia paper and that was MY fault. Sorry.

I do have another question if anyone is still watching....feathering...is that due to using the dip nib and lots of ink or is my ink still too saturated? Is there a cure? I'm sure just adding water to dried ink often works, but I have no clue how much as I don't know what color I'm supposed to be going for.

So I went to B&N and they do not have the book I mentioned before in stores. Online only.

 

Feathering depends on the paper, pen and ink combo being used. Try a different paper that does not absorb water so easily or a nib that writes a bit dry. Last resort would be to thicken ink.

Highly saturated inks can feather more, but I'd change the paper before worrying about that. A pen should write with much less ink and not be a problem; Rhodia is not the best to avoid feathering in my experience.

We all have at least one pen that is a bit more dry than the others we own... *yes, I am looking at you Pilot Metro*... but at least I didn't mention using an extra fine nib. Right? Try not to cringe TRSS, you will end up with grey hair!

Pique sounded instantly familiar, but if there's any Michigan connection, unlikely it's to Ford's Model T plant on Piquette Avenue.

Perhaps a small stationer had unadvertised production under the alternate spelling. So far nothing under google books, but you might check American Stationer.

my time is limited today, sorry, see if you can find Pique under Cleveland Pique Toledo under manufacturing, 1920. This is Ohio, which was known for glass works too.
