Noodler's Switch To Plastic Bottles

I've got a real appreciation for Nathan's hard-core practicality. He's said from the beginning that it's about the ink, not the container, and as long as he keeps selling bottles full of awesome, I'm going to keep buying them. Even if those bottles do look a little like the ones I get store-brand ibuprofen in. I'd buy Noodler's ink if it came in a little plastic bear.

I hope that noodlers rectifies this problem by having some sort of inkwell or ink storage bottle for its users. Then Nathan can ship his ink in plastic bags and I will still buy them.

..if it came in a little plastic bear that might attract a whole new group of buyers, especially if the plastic bear had some kind of nozzle on the top of his/her head which facilitated easy ink filling of pens....that might fairly rawk!

I'd rather pay the extra buck or two for glass. Heavier and more stable than plastic.

FPNers who love their Noodler's glass bottles can run to their favorite retailer or e-tailers and empty their inventories.

 

People who like the ink colors more than the glass bottles can buy those too.

 

From what I undertand, Nathan had to find a bottle that fit inside the ink box, could use the existing cap, protect the ink from UV light and was resonably priced, all that in a relatively short amount of time.

 

He came up with the recyclable pill bottle. While the aesthetic can be debated, plastic bottles are great for transporting ink, protect oneself from curious toddlers and pets as well as save some of the more hem... clumsy ink aficionados.

 

I am willing to bet that Noddler's pill bottle is going to be hit because it provides more ink, is lighter weight, so more ink can be provided in each bottle.

I am also willing to bet that Noddler's glass bottles are going to become hot collectible items for people who want to see ink in pretty bottles.

I'm not sure what kind of retort I can come up with but the recyclability of glass is actually better than the recyclability of plastic thats the way I see it if trully environment is of major concern,

next however I do not get the hype of noodler's inks... some are pretty but I think I got satisfied with my pretty inks for now... heck my only noodler's ink I have is X-feather... ironically Sailor Kiwa-guro performs to my expectations better than x-feather :X

It has been looked at, but it isn't easy. First, it requires re-tooling the bottling process and buying new equipment. This cost would have to be amortized over future production runs, costing you more money for the same amount of ink. Added cost without added value is a non-starter. Second, it locks future production into buying specialized containers available from limited vendors, putting NI at the mercy of these makers. So, again, a non-starter.

Then perhaps it is time for americans start using a new measurement system because, you know, they use the Imperial system, from good ole' England.

They are available, but not for all colors and not for immediate shipment. Please be aware there is a lead time associated with custom orders and it also may not be possible to produce enough of a desired color to fill a large custom order.

Not at this time. This change only affects the 3 oz glass bottles.

I have just looked at Nathan's video: there will be more ink in the plastic containers.

 

I prefer glass, no doubt, but being in Europe I must say plastics will be a shipping cost cutter. I just hope he finds a more aesthetics plastic container than the temporary one.

Metric system isn't the issue, it's the "smaller glass bottle fo' mo' money" that's the problem.

I'd point out that plastic can be very high-tone and expensive, beautiful, cool, amazing..

 

consider that many favorite pens are made out of it, consider their price tags..some of them in the kilobuck range.

 

the pedestrian, un-glamorous pill bottle has a job to do..it packs a lunch, it rides public transportation, wears sensible shoes and brews tea bags several times before discarding them..

And anyway, it works both directions. I've heard quite a lot of more direct slams from that side of the Atlantic. And yes, I can cite them, but will let them slide if possible.
