Noodler's Switch To Plastic Bottles

If you are buying Noodler's ink from Goulet just add an empty 80 ml bottle of Diamine for (currently) $0.65 and you will have a glass bottle that takes almost all of the 3 oz. bottle of Noodler's. Just a few ml's will need to go in something else. Problem solved.

Given the rate at which I use ink, I'd be entirely content paying the same price for 2oz glass bottles of Noodler's ink (with the exception of Heart of Darkness, of course; that's something I'd happily buy in a 4.5oz Boston Round ... if I ever wind up using the 4 bottles of other black inks I already have on hand).

I for one would rather buy Noodler's inks in bulk in whatever Nathan wants to sell it in.

I like the glass better but I really don't care if its a wood barrel or an old whiskey decanter shaped like a butterfly from the 1970s.

I normally buy the 4.5oz bottles with the dropper and then pour the ink into a Montblanc shoe bottle for ease in filling and also into 1oz glass dropper bottles for traveling.

I'm currently drinking down a 4.5oz bottle of Heart of Darkness a month. I contacted the main brand distributer here in TX to see about finding the 16 and 32oz bottles but was told the 32 is no longer available.

Do I appreciate the look and feel of a nice bottle on my table? Of course and I have quite a few but when it comes down to work production, give me an old gallon milk jug if it means me getting a larger amount of the ink I need. I just want the best ink (in my opinion) at the best price.

I haven't found a pretty bottle that will write and draw for me.

If we ever get a Noodlers ink importer here in Australia again and the inks arrive in plastic bottles I won't be buying it. There is way too much waste plastic floating around in a water-ways and oceans.

I am with you - I would pay the little extra to get it in glass given the amount I would use and I use my fountain pens for all hand writing I do including at work.

Any plastic I buy is my responsibility to manage. If it ends up in the ocean, that's entirely my fault.

Any empty ink bottles (glass, terracotta, plastic, etc) get used for blends and other tasks.

If it has to go out because it is broken, then it goes in the recycling and comes back as park benches, bumpers in car parks and the like.

Glass bottles will be back soon. Please be patient for just a little while longer.

Meanwhile, all those frugal Yankees out there are advised to stock up now on the plastic bottles with the extra free volume of ink!

+1.

Now all we need is to fill a container with several of each ink and ship it to Aus.

BTW, loving my plastic bottle of Liberty's Elysium.

That is easy to fix:

1.) Stop by, call or write your favorite Australian retailer and tell them you want to be able to buy Noodler's Inks and Pens locally.

2.) Get your friends and relatives to also perform item 1.

3.) Repeat until your local retailer realizes the profitability of importing Noodler's Inks and Pens.

4.) Enjoy!

Hmm, the only shop I would trust to do this without ripping us off ($AU29 for a bottle of Coral Sea, when the AU$ was stronger than the US$) is Peters of Kensington.

They used to stock Noodler's, perhaps we can inveigle them to do it again.

The shipping from America to Australia plays a larger roll in the sense of pollution to the world than the plastic bottles...

The manufacturing of the plastic counts, too

and ultimately, these are not comparable in any real measurable way

but it is important to note the shipping, packaging, and even ink production contributions to the degradation of our environment

According to Pen Chalet, Noodler's glass bottles are back.

All's well that ends well. :)

Buy yourself a small kitchen funnel or a transfer pipette at the local drugstore. Even a turkey baster can be used if you are steady of hand.

I realize this reply is late, but I feel it presents an important alternative: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B011R1HPDU

These make quick, easy, disposable work of many pen-related tasks. At (currently) .035 USD each they aren't -free-, but I get many uses out of each one, save for the tasks requiring complete trust in cleanliness!

It worked for me yesterday, but it doesn't now. Look for "Plastic Transfer Pipettes". I believe these were 3ml capacity.

Are glass bottles back?

Yes, they have been back for a while. All the plastic-bottled inventory should be gone by now. I bought a bottle of Noodler's from Goulet a month ago, and it was a glass bottle.
