I think it was earlier this year that FPN received new batches of their custom inks from Noodler's. I ordered the colors that I thought I'd like and Van Gogh Starry Night Blue was one of them. It did not disappoint.

 

As usual I've tested it with Mohawk via Linen and Hammermill 28 lb inkjet papers, as well as Tomoe River.

Quite shady on Tomoe River. I didn't see any sheen, but it could be my pen, ink, paper combo isn't conducive to that.

In the waterfastness test, there was very little bleeding. It's not bulletproof, but it has very good resistance.

Seems like we got an extremely large ink droplet.

Great review & such a nice ink. I've had one of my pens in current rotation filled with it for several days. Everyone should have a least one bottle of it!

My Fosfor Syringe Filler has this ink dedicated to it. Or is it that it is dedicated to this ink? I don't know, but it's a perfect match, although it seems so dark I usually don't see the shading, unless I dip the pen in water to make it lighter and less concentrated. But no matter. This is a staple, and when one bottle seems close to the end I will order the next one. Can't be without a dedicated ink!

One of the things I really like about this ink is that if you leave it under water over night all of the blue-black will wash away and you will be left with only a red pigment remaining. The writing is still completely legible but closer to the color of Montblanc Burgundy.

Thank you for such a thorough review of this gorgeous ink. I love that you use poetry in your writing samples. I would love to get this and Galileo, however the postal charges are prohibitive and I have to factor in customs fees! But if I ever come to the US - my goodness, I will just leave all my clothes (from the suitcase!!!) and pack it with every Noodler ink I can find!

Just purchased a bottle. I do a lot of writing in low light so I need something deep and dark like this.

 

Looking forward to it. I usually don't buy a bottle without trying out a sample, but I liked what I read from the impressions and especially Gourmetpens' review:

Have no idea. But it is from one of the mods I think. So they have jobs, and family, etc.

I just want to say thank you again for the Starry night referral. The ink is already OUT OF STOCK. I think it's wonderful that individuals taking care of the shipments, as busy as they are, are able to put this into their time when they can and provide such a beautiful ink. I'm so glad the members of FPN were able to organize Starry Night's production : )

 

Ever since I found Noodler's Air Corps Blue Black and Kung Te Cheng, I've been so impressed by Noodler's ability to make such beautiful inks regardless of the price, and with how well ACBB works, I have been on the look out for a similar dark color that borders on black yet still retains a vibrancy to the color that pops without being garish like Bay State Blue (which I do like, but don't love like the before mentioned inks). It's so hard to find that balance of vibrancy and darkness while still retaining a beautiful hue... and with decent water resistance.

 

Happy to wait for this ink. I haven't been this excited about an ink before : )
