Chinese Pens Show And Tell.

I've been very close to pulling the trigger on the Chaplin many times Frank, and it is inevitable that I will at some point, get one...I feel I must.

I'm sure when you eventually "pull the trigger" you won't be disappointed. Be warned though, it's heavy, definitely a man's pen. It's not particularly long, in fact, unposted it's barely long enough to rest on that little web of skin between finger and thumb, but it's fat and heavy. My second favourite pen (today, it might change tomorrow :)).

Did I mention that it's heavy?

Hahaha

Heavy pens I can cope with, it's the skittery wee flimsy numbers I can't go. ;)

Ordered the Duke 619 Noble Mentor Priest-B. nib last nite, and the Picasso Luxor on Wednesday. I know I have enough pens to last a lifetime, however, like yourself, I keep discovering additional interesting pens that do not bankrupt me. Ian I have to admit, I am starting to enjoy my Lorelei pens, which is really surprising. Are you familiar with the Duke Supreme?

To celebrate having just managed to get the update for Windows 10 to Ver 1607 on one of my old PCs (after several months of trying, on and off, but with renewed energy since WannaCry), I just bought two of those Picasso 917s, one each with gold trim and silver trim.

Ian: the Hero Green and Blue Swirl pens you showed, do they have a number or other means of identification on ebay?

They don't Gary.

I think they might have been parts bin jobs, as all there is, is the Hero logo on the clip and the nib.

To be honest, they aren't the best Heros out there, if they are in fact genuine Heros.

I got them as a result of late night ebaying with only one functioning eye, and even that was half shut.

They write very well, but they are an odd combination of metal and plastic, with an overlapping paper? " wrap", and the nib seems a bit small for the rest of the pen.

They do what they're supposed to, but aren't a favourite.

Some excellent "showing" going on there South, but not much in the way of "telling". ;)

Tell us about your pens.

What you like, what you don't like, how they write, what you use them for, whatever you want to tell us.

Give us your wisdom.

There we go.

Good stuff.

I'm sure we'll enjoy hearing about (and seeing) your search.

Buying loads of Chinese pens to find out what suits is a hoot.

Enjoy

Ah, OK, I'll give them a miss. That's saved me a bit of nocturnal ebaying then :-)

Good morning Ian! Been out of town and just got home yesterday evening. My Picasso Luxor had arrived, and after unloading my luggage, I "tore" into the box to find this beautiful Picasso pen. I inked it immediately (forgot to flush it in my excitement), and the nib is so smoooth! Here is my initial snap. After recovering from jet lag, I will add additional info later. For the gentlemen, this pen also comes in black.

The Picasso 926 Luxor is a beautiful pen. It is well-balanced, and feels good in my hand. I would call it one of the 'Cadillac' of Chinese fountain pens.

NIB: 0.8 mm & smooooth!

TRIM: Chrome

WEIGHT: Cap - 18g. Body - 26g

LENGTH: Capped - 5 1/4"

Uncapped - 4 3/4+"

Posted - 6"

CAP: Snap cap & secure. Has a sky blue stone set down in the finial. Blue stone symbolic of 'peace'.

BODY: Finial has the name 'Picasso' on two sides. With the shaping of the finial, the top of the finial is shaped like a square.

MATERIAL: Brass, with highly polished white lacquer.

CLIP: Attractive; can place in a shirt pocket.

POSTING: The pen does post nicely

CONCLUSIONS: I am thoroughly satisfied with this pen. Love the feel in my hand. Though I do not normally post my pens, I am able to

post this pen without it being top heavy. Pen cost was $35.90. Pen box is classy. Inked up without flushing, and it

wrote beautifully ROTB. I think I will also purchase the black version as well. This pen is a keeper.

I've been watching the black Peace Dove Luxor for months Helen, and after your post it has now made its way into my basket.

I've yet to press "checkout" but the action is imminent.

The white looks beautiful, and I might consider one at a later date.

How does the Luxor compare size wise to the 915, and does it have the same size nib?

Not that it will make any difference, as I'll be buying it anyway. :D

I'm finding the Picassos to be extremely desirable, and the quality is excellent, making getting more a necessity.

Ian, as you see the Picasso 915 is definitely larger than the Picasso Luxor.

Picasso 915: Picasso Luxor:

Weight: Cap - 26g Cap: 18g

Barrel - 28g Barrel: 26g

Length: Capped - 5 1/2" Capped: 5 1/4+"

Uncapped - 5" Uncapped: 4 3/4"

Posted - 6 1/2" Posted: 6"

Nib Size: #6 Nib Size: #5 or possibly a #5.5

Hero 1303. I had never heard of this pen before I randomly saw it on amazon while browsing fountain pens. I don't see them anywhere else at all!

Its a pretty nice little thing. Very skinny, almost the same dimensions at the Pilot Cavalier.

Fine nib, good flow very smooth.

The black paint is kinda not that well done, you can see an unpainted edge around the cap. And the logo is painted on in a stark white paint. As well as a barcode on the back side unfortunately... I think I may take the paint off at some point, not sure how though.
