Chinese Pens Show And Tell.

Helen,

The centre pen is the Jinhao 15, which you can find reviewed here https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/246134-jinhao-15-moka/ and elsewhere (sbrebrown etc.).

It's curved design is a nod to the Waterman Serenite (with an acute accent on the last 'e'). This is one of my favourite fine writing Chinese pens, I have one in blue permanently in my pen box at work, it comes also in wine red and black. Very nice writer and quite comfortable to use for long periods. Its rather simple design lines with chrome accents makes a welcome change from some of the more gaudy and flashy pens from China.

Cheers,

Gary

Nice review! I do enjoy Stephen's reviews. Thanks for the link!.

The Ling Mo "Lorelei" fountain pen in blue. Uses a Pilot Super Quality compatible nib so you can switch in an italic from a Plumix and it'll work just fine. Even comes in a surprisingly nice box that can be re-purposed for storage.

That acrylic looks nice.

I see it comes in a few colours too, and the red looks particularly fetching.

How does it write?

Looks like we might have to get one to try it out. Weight comparisons:

Kaweco Sport Classic with clip: 12g

Pilot 78g -12g

Esterbrook Transitional - 14g

Esterbrook J = 12g

Jinhao 886 (small pocket pen) - 20g

According to the weight info we retrieved earlier on the Lorelai of 18g, it might be worth a try. I was considering the yellow pen. What are your thoughts??

As I've been giving this pen a real hammering in the last few weeks I thought I'd bring it up again.

The Yiren 858 black and rose gold, f nib.

This pen was a step away from the norm for me, as I've tended to stick to manufacturers that I'm familiar with, Jinhao, Hero etc. but I decided to give this outfit a bash as I really liked the "industrial" look of the pen, and, I'm a bit of a sucker for rose gold.

As I said previously, the pen is really nice, good quality, robust feeling, and writes nicely, as well as having looks that I find attractive, so a good buy by all accounts.

The nib is an f but as the pen writes nice and wet it writes more like a medium which suits me better, and I've been putting it through it's paces for about 3 weeks now, and the more I have written with it, the more I have come to enjoy it.

As well as looking industrial, it feels industrial too, with a built to last feel about it, and a very satisfying "klunk" when you cap the pen.

I filled it with diamine crimson and I just can't put the thing down.

It really writes beautifully and is an absolute pleasure to write with, even over long periods (posted).

If you like the industrial look and finish....get one, it is very, very good.

It writes fine. The nib is similar to Pilot Super Quality nibs and came well tuned.

This is all your faults, until I strayed on here I'd never heard of Chinese pens. Now I've got 6 and 2 more coming.

Very bad shot of the current 6, I will take better when I get my lighting sorted.

I have coming a Kaigelu 316 Century White and a Hero 7022 Black and Blue Granite.

All have written well straight out of the packaging and a quick rinse through

I can see this getting addictive

And it just doesn't stop.

You'd think with the pens I got at Christmas the urge would be sated...but no.

Raking around ebay China of a late evening needs to stop.

I couldn't help myself, and ordered some Kaiduoli or other which looks waaay over the top for my taste, but as I said, I just couldn't help it.

A rabbit hole indeed Helen. :)

I think that looks pretty decent apart from the grey section which spoils it. It would suit it much more if it were black.

I customized my Crocodile 806 with a black resin rose.

That looks interesting!! :eureka: I could truly live with that resin rose!!! I had given thought to that pen on many occasions, however, I would prefer it without the crocodile clip. Where did you get the rose, or is this your creative work?

It is a rose bead that I got from Amazon. They called it synthetic turquoise, but it looks and feels the same as the black on the pen.
