You stop the Chinese 'pen mania' by not reading the Show & Tell reviews :lticaptd:Trust me I do understand (I'm guilty) . I love my Bookworm FP - has a very unique look. I just ordered the Picasso Rose-colored Celluloid, Kaigelu 316 - white/black veined, Kaigelu 368 green & a Jinhao 159 blue with gold tone trim; and, I only meant to order the Picasso. My fingers slipped - yep, that was the problem ;)

I put a Nemosine size 5 1.1mm stub in the black and gold. I'm going to try my first grind on the red and gold.

Good Luck, and let us know how you get on.

Just remember to take your time...once it's off, you can't put it back on.

do lots of checking how the nib writes throughout and you'll get it to exactly how you want.

Hello! .. My names Ian .... And I haven't bought a Chinese fountain pen for 2 weeks, 4 days, 17 hours and 31 minutes.

Followed by the loud "Thump" of a slightly overweight Scottish fella falling off the 4 wheeled cart.

It never ends I tells ya.....never!

Hate the bookworm.

My one had 'Yiren' on it but was the same pen.

Took less than a day for the black to start coming off the filigree, and 3 days for the chrome plating on the filigree to peel back from the base brass and risk slicing my fingers. The nib, soft, thin and deformed permanently. They may be better 4 years on, but I try not to get bitten twice.

Regards

Richard.

What experiences have people had with this pen? Called the Duke rhombus, it's available in three colors.

Not that pen but I have half a dozen Dukes and there's not a duff one amongst them.

Frank,

not a duff one -- good news. FPN offers many great resources, two of which are advice about pens, and lessons in vocabulary. Thanks for the new word.

I have had my Bookworm since 2009/2010. Have not experienced any peeling of the chrome plating on the filligree. On the rim around the top of the cap and the top of the barrel, have experienced some black paint wear (Snap #3) Still writing with the original nib (Huashilai). Looks like it might be a QC issue.fpn_1476567435__bookworma.jpg

"duff" is very polite Bob, the singular being. "a duffer".

The Jockanese equivalent is somewhat more disparaging, namely, " a shiter" :) which Richard would probably be more liable to use in the case of his Yiren/Bookworm.

It was fun. I used a glass file to smooth it, but it needs a little micromesh to finish it off. It writes well, but has one spot that could be smoother.

I'm new here and I'm still finding my feet so I'm being as polite as I know how. I'm not even insulting the Scots and other foreigners (yet). See how good I'm being? :)

I don't think "duff" and "duffer" have the same sort of meaning. "Duff" is an adjective meaning bad or faulty, "duffer" is an inept person but not inherently bad. As an old duffer I feel qualified to pontificate on this matter. ;)

Hahaha

I'm approaching the auld duffer stage myself, well, as far as the kids are concerned anyway.

Not being much of a fine or extra fine fan, I don't really have very many, although fine nibs do have their merits.

Here's one which I do like.....very much.

Probably more due to the pen than the nib.

It's kind of Waterman-esque in its' shape and appearance...which is probably why I'm attracted to it.

I just checked my file to see how much I paid for this pen, and it was a whopping $1.10. :D :D

Like Ian, in 90 days I will reach the 'auld duffer' stage at the big 70! I told my doctor the other day, that getting old is not for wimps.fpn_1475963286__helensnap10416b.jpg
