Gerhard Richter is a German visual artist specializing in photographs, abstract as well as photorealistic paintings, and also in glass pieces. I find his quotation applies to all forms of art, including fountain pens, because:

(1) many fountain pens are art items themselves on their own, (such as the Bexley pen reviewed in the previous post by Bobje),

(2) you can produce many forms of art, such as drawings, literature, sketching, etc by using fountain pens.

The quote is written with my Waterman Expert II pen (M nib originally, ground to EF size by me), ink is Waterman Blue-Black, paper is generic school notebook).
