It Seems To Be Raining Plums

The cocoa pens remind me of women's legs, a favorite image. I love my near mint and frosty cocoa demi set.

Reminds me of baby poop but diapers are still a recent memory from farmkid.

I don't have kids, so the poop image passed me by. No regerts (sic, Milky Way Ad).

I don't think the Cocoa color is quite the right color of brown, but I am not a connoisseur of fine poop. Not like the bathroom figurines are.

I only had one plum on each of my plum trees this year that the birds did not eat. First homegrown plums yum yum....

Too rich for my blood....

Is this NOS, because of the sticker? I'll stick with my beater Demi if it's all the same -- that one I'm not afraid to write with.

ISR, Most would argue for NOSness due to Both the sticker, condition of the set and the "sterile" looking sac.

While the Plummer naysayers won't be happy to hear it, Assuming all is as it appears with the set, he is actually a little

Low for what the set would cost from Dr. I.

I suspect our own Thomas Bickman could get this asking price on Auction were the set his. This seller appears to

know the Plummer handshake, it looks like one from what I can see.

It appears, on first blush, that a number of general traders are picking up on the hype-buzz around Plum coloured 51s, and pricing accordingly, or expecting such prices at least. On the other side of the coin I have an FPN-member-restored midnight blue 51 that I cannot shift for love nor money, even though this colour is seen as infrequently these days as the Plum versions. I guess the hype-train will come around eventually. :)

If you think this is high, around 2002 I lost out on a plum auction for an NOS pen only that went for $440.

Best kind of plum. The pens would disappoint from the color standpoint, looking so dark and of nondescript color. They are 51s, however, so they are great pens.

Ah, but then I'm not a C-worder. So I don't give a rat's you know what about NOS, or sets. I just wanted a pen that writes well; that I got a Plummer for a good price is an added bonus.

When I go and look at the listing, it adds on $15.76 for shipping to the UK, plus $101.76 for what it calculates as Customs duties.

So it's not a 'low' or even reasonable price for me, and I wouldn't want to have to buy a pencil that I wouldn't use.

I'm not sure I'd gamble it's a Plum. Looks like a Burgundy to my eyes. YMMV

You may be right. The seller though says the pen is special, he doesnt show the filler. I was suspicious because of the blackish pictures.

I don't think any of the plums were Specials, but that doesn't say that a filler sheath with peeling chrome plate might not have been replaced with a sheath for a "Special." Many plum pens had the fillers with chrome like plating that deteriorated and peeled off leaving the base metal. A filler like that might have been replaced with what came to hand. In the kingdom of Parker51, unusual things happen.

Dear inkstainedruth, if we are speculating about topics like this, we are collectors, especially if we have accumulations of stuff like Esterbrooks. We might wish to deny c-worderness, but we are all into it enough to be such.

Would a Plum body and hood fit a 51 Special? Maybe it's a franken pen? Or is it more likely that the guts were replaced?
