Inky T O D - Doodles During The Day - Show And Tell

Okay, I confess, I doodle when I'm on the phone or in meetings. That way, I never put my pen down. I write notes and I doodle and no one is really sure what I'm doing (except me) and that way, I don't fall asleep when everyone drones on about unimportant stuff.

What about you? Do you doodle? When do do it? Why? And show us your doodles.

This one is a water wash of other notes that were useless and then doodles when I was on the phone. Each ink color was a different phone call.

I always doodle at meeting, always have always will. I'm a visual thinker. Before I retired there were faculty meetings. I think my principal realized I doodled (drew during meetings), sometimes there were snickers coming from my table. People sometimes reacted to my drawings. I never got in trouble though.

Now I have fewer meetings but still draw when I'm at them.

As an aside.....21,502 posts! I'm impressed, and I thought I was doing pretty good at almost 1000!

LinearM, thank you for the response. I find that my clients who are teachers are quite visual and I when I give them "assignments" that are on the computer, they don't turn them in, but if I give them a worksheet and cool office dodads, the "homework" is turned in at our next meeting (sometime with doodles).

The 21,000 posts happen one post at time, though I have had a few nights when I couldn't sleep and spent a lot of time over in the Ink Reviews, it's another great forum.

I scribble and doodle at work but most are incomplete and unfinished as it is just to get ideas rolling. They all look like incoherent ramblings but I put down enough to know what inspired me if I have to come back and look at it later. I wish I had the discipline to keep them all together but some end up on napkins or the nearest medium and tend to be misplaced unless I stick them in my sketchbook. Here is an example of something I might do at home:

It's not something I do regularly but more out of spontaneity to stuff in a letter to a pen pal. Most of my drawings are similar to:

At meetings I've been lucky not to be caught doodling as they are 'funnies' of the person speaking. Nothing rude but some people may not like how they look as goofy cartoons. Mainly it means I am having to look at them and make eye contact so it passes off as if I were paying attention.

I like to see other people's doodles. Some of mine are not worth showing so today, I don't know why, why watchig TV I made an effort for them to be identifiable. I guess they were meant to be shown here.

Here is a sample of what I saw in front of me and on Instagram (top right). All while watching TV. I sometimes make the TV freeze so I can draw faces. I am retired and naver had time to draw when I was working so...

Thanks. And yes, I have a BA in Architecture and a few minors in random subjects, haha. Drawing buildings is much easier for me than people and animals so I try to do it as often as possible.

@Lamyrada: You have a good eye for texture. I liked your sketches.

Duplicate. oggh!

You did great! Once you have the image uploaded somewhere, use the little picture icon on the second row (it's underneath the A with colors) here on the reply section and you can add the URL of your image to your post here. I added your image above.

Your doodles are great! What ink did you use?

Print? Oh... from my letter? Thanks. You are too kind. It wasn't until after I sent it that it dawned on me that it must be very boring to give a letter written in black ink to the person who's notebook looks like:

I truly like all of your color compositions.

Changeable weather here today (it's gloomy right now) waiting for my client's DVDs to be burnt and labelled. Printer giving me grief and the burner too.

*Raises hand*... I'd like to inquire as to the function of the 'INK' button on your keyboard. Did not press it in case it was the 'SELF-DESTRUCT' button used to hide all the inky evidence from the spouse or boss!

Erm, no such luck.

It hides an impossible to remove stain on the aluminium caused by lord knows what and who knows when - although I've a feeling it harks back to the ink testing days.

(those little white keys on the other hand always manage to scrub up nice, very confusing)

@AMBER: What is that red-tipped, white-body pen with the black band around the center? And the red cap with white body and the metal band?

@TAS: How do you clean your keys?

Thanks, amber... for both. That works on the desktop pc, I can't upload from the ipad, nothing shows up that I can "click on" or "upload" or "send".

The ink is Fuyu-gaki. Too brilliant! I am trying to use it up to move to a bottle of Diamine Blaze Orange which has less red(?) or yellow (?) or something so is a less irritating orange.

I wonder what that morning coffee lacked today that I had to edit so many times! LOL
