Only one, but what an ebonite pen, Dhruv. Very elegante.

(starnge. Your handwriting is very similar to my father's.)

Thank you.

I had another ebonite pen which goes by the name of onyx custom made. It's fine nib was like a medium Japanese and made my writing look like bugs crawling on paper, hence, I moved it out of daily usage. It's currently inked with private reserve Sherwood green which I use ocassionally.

Edit: I only have a total of 4 pens, and I am not due to buy another one until my Hakase arrives in November next year. I buy very few pens but all of them are high quality ones.

You have very good tast.

Hakase is my Graal pen. Which one did you order, if I may ask.

I too have a Guider Onyx. I like it. I didn't get the nib I asked for, after I was proposed with (not Guider's fault), but I like how it writes, after I have smoothen it a little.

It's not an ebonite fountain pen so we are likely going off-topic.

I ordered Rosewood Burl Urushi coating with Hakase sepia ink, again with EF nib. The fittings will be gold plated and not solid 14k gold. But i am thinking of changing that to 14k gold.

You should get one soon, maybe go to Japan and get Tortoise shell pen. The good thing about Hakase is that you actually have the time to save up while waiting for your pen to complete. They have ebonite pens too, although it's red ebonite.

Forgive us, all of you for this little digression, outside ebonite.

[off subject] Dhruv, it looks like a beauty, that Hakase.

Mine will be the black water buffalo horn, short gold clip. one of these days]

Back to subject ;)

Just received Kim Nova - green ebonite.

This is a beautiful, very wel balanced and confortable pen, with an absolutely modern look to it.

The polishing is smooth and bright, but not too shiny. I like that way.

The nib has been smothed before the pen arrived to me. It is like writing with butter - utmost smoothness i all papers, smoth or very textured.

I love it.

Yes, Teri, I totally agree with you: indian ebonite pens are great, and beautiful. And even better once the nib is taken care of.

Fountainpagan must be my long lost twin. Buys Indian ebonite and has a Hakase as a grail pen!

Anyway, as FPN friends know I have a few Indian ebonites myself, some acquired in India, some from other collectors in Europe. A few pictures:

http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t411/amk-fpn/_IGP1066.jpg

Ratnamson, Deccans, three Guiders, big Ranga in disgustingly flamboyant ebonite. You can ignore the rest.

http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t411/amk-fpn/pen020.jpg

Some Mohi ebonites. They have some lovely ripple patterns.

http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t411/amk-fpn/pen012.jpg

A bunch of vintage found in their box. Much more of a woodgrain feeling and less overt patterning than in most modern Indian ebonites: tastes have changed.

And my new baby, the Brahmam:

http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t411/amk-fpn/P1110024.jpg

I also have a Guider onyx in the blue marble and a superb and absolutely massive black polished Ranga - but the dark colours won't photograph successfully, at least for me. I need to skill up and get some decent lighting...

Too many pens, too little time!

You really don't have to stick to the brochure. You can mix and match and create your own design from the listed materials.

I am thinking of adding a roll stopper and keep the clip long instead of the tear drop clip. It's just that I also want a pen with continuous Urushi coating which roll stopper will not allow.

Also, just FYI, only ~120 Hakase pens are made each year, they don't have the capacity or manpower to make more.

You pen looks nice, the clip is kinda different from the normal pens. Nib photograph is kinda blurry.

@Amk - :notworthy1: , I am the small twin. Those are beautiful. The Mohi in olive ripple is superbe. And the vintage brown one too.

  There is probably a kind of twin thing between us, yes. I am think about getting a Ranga in almost the same disgustingly flamboyante ebonite as your. The patern is the same, the colours are blue, pink, pale yellow.

What is that stunning green ripple you have on the tray - the fifth from the left? :yikes:

@Drhuv - Yes I know I don't want to stick to the catalogue. But that model is the one which made me discover Hakase: I felt immediately inlove of the model, the moment I saw it, hence my wanting it, at least as the first to be ordered - if I cannot get other models I will have the one I really really wanted.
