Conklin Duragraph Vs. Twsbi Classic?

What are your thoughts on each pen and which would you recommend buying first? They are relatively equally priced so I wanted to know which is better overall.

Thanks! :)

I happen to have both, in a medium nib, and, honestly, I think they are pretty even! The Duragraph is very pretty (I have the amber one), but takes cartridge/converter. The Classic definitely has some style, though is plainer, but is a piston-filler. This is not helpful, I know, but you'd probably be happy whichever you chose.

Ah, thanks. :D If you had to choose one to have as the only pen for the rest of your life, which would you choose? ;)

I too have both pens in my collection. While many people have had issues with TWSBI plastic cracking, I have TWSBIs dating back to the original Diamond 530 and have only had a VAC 700s cap ring shear off, and that was quickly replaced by customer service for the cost of shipping. Similarly, among the multiple TWSBIs the only nib that needed to be tweaked was on the Vac700. I was able to tweak it myself without seeking the help of nibmeisters. All my TWSBIs can be left alone, inked, for days, and write straight away.

The Duragraph I have had a pleasant writing experience with, and no issues with fit and finish.

Here's a question for you - are you considering the filling mechanisms? Are you the type that want to change your inks often? Don't need to write pages and pages at school or work? If the answer to these last two questions is yes, then a cartridge converter like the Duragraph might suit your style better. If you are going to stick with one ink for a long period of time and change only when you run dry, and / or you do need to do long writing sessions, then a piston filler like the TWSBI would be better.

Hope this helps.

Looking for an Omas Arco Verde...the one that got away.
