Inks With The Traveling Pen

Thanks LuMA.

I used a ruler with a cork backing that gives that lip and I just couldn't get it to work well. I'm not completely sure the edge of the pen is perfectly straight. That's fine if you're dragging the full width across the paper, but pulling it along a ruler didn't work as well. I might try some pennies under the cork to raise it even higher, but I doubt it will help much. You never know.

Take note of how high the ink level is when you dip it.... the bottom of the ruler needs to be above this level or it will purge the ink thinking the ruler's edge is the writing surface. You can probably run it on the long edge of the pen against the ruler as it will not make contact with ink but you'll get only thin lines. Good luck and post photos of success or attempts.

Ok, so I was able to talk to my neighbors, and her parents who were visiting from China. None of them had ever seen anything like it, and her father, in his 70's and with some classical training (i.e. calligraphy), could not imagine how to use it for writing Chinese either. If this were Mythbusters, I'd have to say this myth of it being used in China for writing would be doubtful.

And I don't seem to have the technique for ruling with it either.

So, I'm ready to see what Clazbill can do with it.

all mythbusters welcome...as are mythmakers. So if it's not what I was told it was, WHAT IS IT?

The mystery deepens...

Just a note, I have received the... pen. It's been interesting, laying down more ink than I've ever done before. I'll take some pictures and post them as soon as I can.

Ok, sorry it's taken a while to get back here.  Work attacked.

Writing with this pen is interesting.  It takes some getting used to.  Ink flows quick for sure!

A few pictures:

Joy of Ink

Zen!

Yes, We Have That

Can ya'll tell I was using Emerald of Chivor?  The sheen is crazy due to the amount of ink on the page. Also, the color of the ink is much darker than I've seen it come out of my normal pens.

Last one was where I was doing some simple lines, then didn't really like what was going on, so I started smearing the ink around... and liked the result.  At least it shows off the ink color better, and there is still a silly amount of shimmer here.

Artistic (?) Mess

All the pens in the pictures were just nearby and made great paper weights while I took pictures outside.

Now I wish I had held onto to it until I had my EoC! Yeah, some crazy amount of ink. Has anyone thought of sending a picture of the "object" to Sam at Pendamonium? They've seen practically every kind of desk and writing accessory in their many years of buying and selling. Just a thought.

WOW, CB, that's a lot of ink.

Andrew, I don't think anyone has done that yet.

I'll be glad to do it, I just didn't want to be presumptuous if Tim wanted to do it.
