Inks With The Traveling Pen

Oh and on a side note... I um... wiggled every little angle I could get my hands on to see if it came apart or adjusted somehow. Didn't budge. This thing was made to last.

Had only a couple minutes before I had to leave so I kicked it into gear and gave it some gas...

Its pretty rough looking but I am hoping I have more time tomorrow to try out a few ideas. Wish me luck (:

LuMA, that is amazing control of the pen! Beautiful artwork.

Woah! Very nice handling! I know how tricky these things can be. So, did you go through a significant portion of that bottle of ink? that's a lot of ink laid down.

Luma, that is amazing. I'm fascinated to note that the crowd-sourced expertise is growing rapidly...

As Chewytulip stated before, it prefers straight lines. It took some adjustments to figure out which way the pen was telling me to move it. You can see it in the drawing... started with the very rigid leaf at the bottom right and by the end it was just gliding wherever it wanted to go.

I went through a lot of ink. More than an eighth of an inch but not quite a quarter on the Noodler's bottle of Bad Black Moccasin. It's mesmerizing to see the ink just gush out onto the paper. Intoxicating.

Here is an attempt to do line work:

Figured it would be easier than curves but it wasn't. This was done with Noodler's BBM and Sheaffer Skrip.

Thanks CT. I took your advice and ran with it... with the point down of course. Wouldn't want to trip and fall while running with this pen lol :D

Luma, I am impressed.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I rank this with flex nibs: in the hands of the talented few they're capable of beautiful things.

Didn't get a chance to do much with the pen until this late but here is another attempt at line work:

That's really remarkable. That kind of drawing is really unforgiving, isn't it? You really need to get everything right on the first try, or you have to do it all over again. And the (illusory) depth is great. I keep staring and being mesmerised by it.

Wow, I couldn't get a single straight line without making a mess. You and Chewy Tulip do magic.

Thanks everyone

@Fountainpagan: I think what it's missing is a focal point. After a while it freaks me out too. Hahaha.
