I'd like in on this as well, please. I've got plenty of blues to play with.

 

As an added favor : can I please have some writing with the #9 sample as well? I'm curious how it compares to my batch. I tried to copy DCWaites' recipe exactly, but you never know.

Thanks for noting this ink looks different in each pen, AmberLea.

 

After getting called everything but a child of god on here for daring to suggest that I see it as a greenish blue....

 

You have brought out shades of it that are sometimes greenish or purple-ish on here in this thread.

I have a list of 14 people so far --but TheRealScubaSteve, TessyMoon, Cyber6, Sinistral1, and several others Inksters have not yet been assigned a page of blue madness. We know they have plenty of blue inks to compare.

Ok this is what I did.

#1 I didn't have enough broad or stubs to show off any of these inks. Of course the Ecos arrived late tonight grrrr. I used the following pens:

Montblanc 144 M nib, TWSBI 580 1.1 stub, Pilot pluminix with italic nib, Pilot Custom Heritage 92 M nib, and a Montblanc 149 (I think it's a fat M nib-it was a gift so no idea). I know the type of nib and nib size will impact how the ink looks-sorry but today I just didn't have enough stubs to do this justice.

 

#2 I used the following inks:

Faux PPS

Bungbox Hatsukoi aka First Love aka Sapphire.

Private Reserve DC Super Show Blue

A.W. Akkerman #5 Shocking Blue (just on the swatch)

 

 

I forgot I had the shocking blue that's why it's not on the paper--sorry.

 

Here goes.

 

This is the sheet Amber sent. I photographed on my front porch, around 3pm in indirect (aka non blinding) light. Although the blue of the paper hints at it, this was not photographed in the shade.

 

 

 

Both the PR DCSS and Bungbox look a little darker/richer than the PPS in this photo. I think the Faux PPS looks very close in this picture.

 

OK so I did a swatch page using a white tomoe river paper.

 

 

 

 

 

From the doodles on the side you can see that the #5 Shocking Blue sheen is insane. It reads as a red/purple blue.

Also I think based on just the doodles, the PR DCSS Blue is very close. Faux PPS (at least on the tomoe river) seems a hair paler.

The mess is massive but, disappointed that Blue Velvet looked NOTHING like PPS (I was convinced it would be a dead ringer) I set about having a mix.

 

I don't own many blues but after a few goes (and next time I'll use a little less water) I think I have a pretty close match.

 

10 parts Diamine Blue Velvet

2.5 parts Diamine Majestic Blue

10 parts water.
