The Super Duper Co-Razy Parker Penman Sapphire - Blue - Comparisons Psp

Ok, I am thinking of making another Diamine 30ml order. Sargasso Sea is on my list, and now so is Blue Velvet.

Yeah, seeing the results Blue Velvet is a must. I'm not sure about Sargasso Sea though. The color and the sheen are awesome ... but it's very prone to drying up in the nib after a day or two. On the other hand : when on paper : it takes a long time to fully dry and will keep smearing for several hours after you write something.

Blue Velvet is a great ink. I have heard that Sargasso Sea behaves better when diluted just a bit with distilled water.

My only regret with this vast project was that my contribution got lost--nevertheless, many thanks to Amber, DC, and all those who participated!

Sargasso Sea is an interesting color, but I never used it because of how it behaved. Took forever to dry, and might still smear a bit. Even think about water getting close to it is asking for trouble. I think most of that is because it's so saturated.

Okay, I have to say, I'M SORRY.

Diamine Iris???? Which one is Diamine Iris?

Can you stop finding inks I don't know about, pretty please? My head is about to exploderate again, and my paypal account has gone and hidden under the bed.

Diamine Iris is one of the flower set. Now you can buy just the individual colors that you like.

David, when you are looking through the images, if you see the one from JMcCarty can you please scan it? I'm sure I sent it directly to you and I feel bad that I lost his.

Thanks to Eric, aka sirgilbert357, I have, today, received some 10mls of Noodler's Liberty's Elysium.

I have done some preliminary testing, as below --

fpn_1445337069__pps_vs_nle.jpg

The first two lines were done with a Perry Iridinoid MR2 dip pen.

The others were done with the pen named.

I am happy to now say that NLE is a good replacement for PPS. The colours are as above, and can vary a lot with even slight pressure differences on the nib. Both show reasonable shading, and in an area not scanned, both demonstrated similar amounts of sheen.

I haven't completed testing on poorer papers yet, but I think the NLE may have a touch more surfactant in it as it bleeds on some papers a bit more than PPS. But, that will make it flow better through your pen and tend to clog it less than PPS was reputed to do.

Both pens will be going to work with me tomorrow so I can give them some real-life testing comparisons.

How sure am I on this? I will be sending some money in the Goulet's direction.

While I was confident with the results on the Co-Razy, I couldn't be sure because everybody was using different pens. It wasn't until I was able to use both inks in the same pen (Perry Iridinoid MR2) that I was confident. As I said, more tests to come.

From first hand experience scans can be mighty deceptive, especially with PPS. Although the two look nigh identical here, how does LE compare with your eyes?

I adjusted the scan in GraphicConverter to look as much like the original as possible. However, the important thing is that it is a comparative scan that shows the inks look like each other.

Ok, so who came up with Asaphire blue? I'm loving it, but too lazy to look through the thread and find out. Whoever you are, thank you mucho!

I would like to thank Amber for sending me, amongst other things, a bottle of what purported to be La Couleur Royale, but it seems that it was really a mis-labelled bottle of Noodler's Blue.

So, after the exchange of some money, the ever-so-nice people at Goulet's sent me - 1 x bottle Liberty's Elysium, 1 x bottle La Couleur Royale and 1 x pack 100 sheets of Tomoe River White.

About the same time my HP G4050 Scanner died. So, after the exchange of some more money, and following the advice and opinions of the terribly clever people on this board, a Canon LIDE 220 scanner followed me home.

This is what some inks look like, on TR paper.

fpn_1448022696__inksontomoe.jpg

The paper looks a tad grey, but the ink colours are spot on, at least on my iMac monitor.

Now the inks are new blends, because they came in the new round, plastic bottles. The LCR is clearly a Royal Purple, so it looks like Nathan has got the blend back to what it should be.

More to come, including an explanatory exposition on why I have re-entered the quest for the perfect clone of PPS.

And no, I am not abandoning FPS #9, it has its place.

Your scan looks lovely and clean. Not too saturated or overly contrasty. Nice one!
