Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Let me just say that Private Reserve American Blue is a dead ringer in the swab. Eel Blue is the next closes. You would be hard pressed to tell which one was PPS. I'll tell you two what, I'll mail the original to Luma if she will send to it Tas? The other sheets will go to David for his final opinion.

Do we have any serious contenders yet, or are we still dancing around the flagpole?

As I recall, de Atramentis Hyacinth was very close in color and shading. But it does have a floral scent that some might not care for, so Liberty's Elysium (LE) was my selection for closest ink on my desk.

Let me look, I thought I scanned them all, but I could easily be mistaken.

BTW, Abner, yours hasn't gone out yet still need your address.

I'm not sure, but I think mine was #13.

I know I'm very late, and you all have probably looked at most of the ones I chose for comparison, but since I got my sheet late and still wanted to play...

I did add some inks I did not see in the scans before, and left out some that have already been beaten to death (like Diamine Majestic Blue and Akkerman Shocking Blue that I had wanted to include). And space ran out before my blues did. But I also tried some mixing, and I have one that I thought might come close. See for yourselves...

Amberlea's sheets made it to Australia! :-)

I'm currently away from home and my ink hoard in the UK , but I have a few inks here that I thought worth comparing to PPS. I've tried 5 inks; 3 Sailor-made inks and 2 Diamine blues; none were a perfect match. The closest, in my eyes, is Kobe #37 Island Blue, which is generally a neutral blue, and with that lean away from magenta, the same a PPS. It also shades well, and has sheen in a wet pen on appropriately surface-sized paper e.g. Tomoe

In my view the order of matching, starting from closest, is:

* Kobe #37

* Kobe Ur Lapis

* Shumi No Bungu Hako

* Sargasso Sea

* Cornflower

It's worth mentioning that I got bleed-through on Amberlea's paper with the Sargasso Sea

I'm attaching a scan of my comparisons. As usual with scanners and computer monitors, these are not accurate representations. The cream paper threw off the scanner settings.

My sheet will be off to Amberlea in the post tomorrow. I'd be grateful if Amberlea could re-scan the sheet more accurately & post it again :-)

Migo, I haven't seen this one in person yet. I'll let you know when it arrives.

Here is #16. Amberlea, I can also mail these to you. I thought Idyllic Blue might be close, but no.

Amber sent me one of them papers today (will probably take a while to fly across the pond), and I'm going to squiggle down some Herbin Eclat de Saphir and Diamine Regency Blue (one of the few that hasn't been taken yet).

Diamine really has an insane amount of blues (and other colours). Surely some of them must look pretty alike by now. Do they ever lose track of any of them? I mean, make a new release (like the anniversary Regency) only to have it look exactly like one of the twenty odd inks they made a couple of decades ago. Do they put inks out of production often?

And it is interesting to note, that PPS is radically different depending on the ink flow. So, for example in the swab, you would be dang hard pressed to tell the difference between PPS and Eel Blue or PRAB, but when others have written with PRAB, they say it is different. Well, I did use a HUGE nib. PPS may not look the same with a small nib.
