Dallas Pen Show 2015

I don't know if it will make any difference, but note that traffic may be heavier than usual that weekend as it is the start of the State Fair of Texas!

Shouldn't matter. The show will be miles away from the State Fair, and the traffic's always bad on I-635 (the Freeway of Perpetual Construction) anyway.

...which is why I avoid I-635 with every fiber of my being anymore! Just saying there may be even more people in town than the usual millions...

I'm so excited to meet all these new friends...

So, what's your point?

Right, we really need special FPN badges, or ball caps, or something to identify us. There probably isn't time for FPN to come up with anything "official," but identifiers could be made available for sale in the FPN Store for use at meetings anywhere. Another tactic is to wear something distinctive each day and post what you're going to be wearing on this thread. I found that helpful in DC. If anyone else has strategies that would help get us together, please suggest it here.

I usually have my FPN name on my lanyard badge at each show. Friday I'll be in my typical red Hawaiian shirt and can be found most of the day under the "The Write Pen" banner.

Thinking I'll wear my Bay State Blue tie-dyed "I Got Inked at the Dallas Pen Show" t-shirt Friday. Can't miss it!!

I do like the ball cap idea!

In past, FPN admin gave permission to print stickers with the FPN logo that could be added to the name tags we get at registration. They could be about a half inch tall with the logo on one end, so that our screen name would be on the same tag as our real name. My suggestion was that the stickers could be sold for about fifty cents with the profit after printing donated to the support of FPN.

But someone has to take on the project.

The Dallas show always coincides with the beginning of the State Fair. The good news is that it doesn't coincide with Texas/OU weekend (by design). But thanks to them being so close together, my pockets will be very empty :(

Speaking of money sources:

Indeed there is an ATM in the hotel lobby. However, be aware that the machine provider does not participate in many of the networks that a number convenience and retail stores do. The fees for cash as well as balance inquiries proved to be costly for me. I learned the hard way to plan ahead, since those fees could have been put toward show purchases :)

Just sayin' . . .

KEEP CALM AND BOOGIE ON!

I'll be there. You'll recognize me by the glassy eyes and purposeless wandering from vendor to vendor. I'll try not to drool all over the display cases.

I'm wearing my deep pink "You Can't Buy Happiness But You Can Buy a Fountain Pen Which is Pretty Much the Same Thing" t-shirt. And TXKat and I are often easy to pick out of a crowd because our keepers from the Home follow us around ;)

I'll be at the show. First show I've ever been to, so I'm sure I'll just walk around with my head spinning.

I know there is a Pelican meetup happening nearby as well. I'd heard about it, but didn't realize it was a thing to sign up for. Missed the registration by a day. Anyone know if the Pelican thing is really signup-only, or if people could just show up?

I'll be there on Friday, as usual. I'll be scoping out vintage flex and vintage/modern Pelikans. I'll end up buying way too much ink, because the other 250 bottles are feeling lonely. I'll also drool over a few maki-e pens I can't afford.

I'll look out for the two guys in white coats, each with a pen nut on a leash.

I'll be there in formal morning coat, striped grey trousers, and top hat. Not quite as recognizable as Richard Binder's hat, but close enough.

If you are astute enough to recognize me, you may be fortunate enough to make my acquaintance. A formal introduction will be required, of course.

jmccarty3....are you telling us to look for the Monopoly guy??? Should we have calling cards printed in advance or at the very least, bring a "Get out of jail FREE" card? :P

I cannot decide yet whether I will be going or not. Really want to but it would have to be late on Friday, stay the night, wake up early the next day for the show and then leave that same day on a 5 hour drive back home. I'd love to be able to met all you wonderful people in person though!
