Standardgraph ~ Burgundy (Inktest Tree)

It has been recommended to me that I should post my slightly unconventional inktest 'trees' in FPN. These are obvioiusly not traditional reviews ~ rather, they're personal tests to see the colours break and fade over time. They are drawings because that is what I do. They are trees because it allows me to remain consistent in technique (ink applied with a brush to water on paper & directly to paper). The paper is always Stillman & Birn, Zeta.

I searched for a proper review of this ink in FPN but found none, so I though perhaps I could bring this very nice, dry ink to your attention. It is a solid burgundy. Not too red, nor too blue, nor a hint of purple in this relatively fast drying, but non water resistant ink. No sheen, rather a smooth matte colour. It's a shame this reasonably priced, German product and it's stablemates are not more widely available. They seem to be solid workhorse inks.

I love the tree. I have this ink somewhere, I'm almost sure. I've made full line comparison, but haven't done reviews of all of them. If I recall well, I wasn't very impressed with this ink. I do like it on your tree though :) A lot.

Thank-you. It isn't a fancy ink, to be sure. Mind...I'm not one that uses much in the way of red or burgundy at the best of times for writing, so I can't say much beyond the fact that for drawing with it's a fine colour....in particular because it dries fairly quickly. I'm interested to see how it's going to fare over time. :)

That is a very nice, proper Burgundy: it actually looks like wine. And it makes a gorgeous tree! :)

This is one of the nicer looking Stanardgraph inks. Beautiful tree.
