Picture of the pen, with close-up of the nib/section area?

Best I can take at the moment:

My other pen is a Montblanc.

I'd recommend just soaking it in water with a bit of dish soap for some time. That should loosen any ink residue holding it. Then unscrew with "controlled strength" holding nib and section firmly. It should come out.

Best Regards
Paul

It worked! Thank you. Then, the nib unit went into an ultrasonic cleaner and came out almost like new.

Now to tackle the inkwell....

How does one clean the pen holder? Does it come apart?

If there's no lever on the barrel (or holder, if you like), that means there are no internal things like an ink sac to worry about; it's just a dipper that holds extra ink in the wings & folds of the point. Just clean and polish like you would any plastic for a bright luster.

Paul

I guess I meant the base into which one places the pen between uses.

I missed that. But if you have any difficulty, show a picture of it, and I'm sure there are many here that have done it and can offer plenty of helpful advice. FPN Esterbrooksters are the BPOEs of the pen world IMHO.

I have a few desk sets in my office at work.

First the ones on my window sill. The glass is heavily tinted so not much UV light gets through, but I still want to move them to the book shelf as soon as I get rid of some books. (just business books, so no big loss) I have a new style and old style in black (not shown, they're in use), red, and grey. I only have the old-style in white and green, and only one double 484, in white.

Then there are the ones on the one shelf I've mostly cleaned off. These are not all Esterbrooks.

In the front row from the left are a Turner and Harrison Regal and two Morriset ink wells. Then there's the aqua Esterbrook, a green Esterbrook and a brown Esterbrook ballpoint.

In the back are, from left to right, an old-style "eight ball," an aqua wedge, a burgundy wedge, a double 427, and then my brown, WWII Army Air Force 407, and tucked in the corner is another Morriset from the Naval Air Station in San Diego, also from WWII. Oh, and an unopened, still wrapped box of 968 Radio Pens. The pencils in the very front, marked "Work in Safety Penn Central," came with the box of steel pens below.

Thank you for posting more beautiful pictures and descriptions of your Desk Pens.

On the shelf. "In the front row from the left are a Turner and Harrison Regal and two Morriset ink wells". What color is the second Morriset inkwell?

It is a wonderfully of-the-period pink. With matching pen. It's the only one I've ever seen, but then I haven't been looking for Morrisets for very long. The only other colors I've seen are brown, black, brown swirl and red.
