No writing sample of the TWSBI, but just wanted to share my new pen holder for the current pen of the week! It was a gift from my partner, and I love it so much :D

Pen is TWSBI 580al with Diamine Turquoise, btw :P

I love it!

That is a very handsome "Osmia" (Parker?). Y como siempre, ¡me fascina tu letra tan artística —y ese trapo de cocina tan emblemático de tus fotos—! :D

You don't "have much use for red ink" in your daily life?! How is that possible? Red is inspiring and energizing. I think that the general lack of red ink in your life may have made it impossible for you to share melancholic lines with us today! ;)

I'll help you:

Did a little vintage dip nib comparison over in the Pointed Pen Calligraphy forum, but thought I'd share the picture of the nibs since these are what I'm writing with today. To see what the nibs write like, check out the post.

nyx_h: That knight pen holder is the greatest! Any info you can share on where it was purchased?

mehandiratta: Keep the orange pens coming! I'm becoming converted

Eduardo: Love the Sheaffers! Those inlaid nibs are still some of the greatest industrial design of the 20th-century

EoC: Your writing just keeps getting better and better. And that oblique holder is pretty sweet!

Halloween: Always love seeing your fancy pens and wonderful writing, and your Waterman does some amazing things!

Mauricio: That burnt orange Pelikan with the nib,... The nib!!! Such a stunner!

Got a new nib yesterday and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I had a "newer" (c. 1940's) version which was pretty good, but I was able to get a box from the teens or 20's and these babies are so much fun. Writing with one of these big nibs takes some getting used to, but the Bank Pen shape is one of the ones that stretches back to early in the history of the steel pen, and lasted for a long time. I have a couple of Esterbrook 14 Bank pens, and they're also quite fun. Charles Schultz used the "Radio" coated version (914) of the Esterbrook bank pen to draw all of his Peanuts comic strips, which is why the prices for those are kind of ridiculous. The plain old 14 is exactly the same pen but without the "Radio" coating. And I would say these older Eagle Bank Pens are definitely comparable. They're big, flexible, hold a ton of ink and extremely durable. Not the sharpest lines out there, but no slouch either. Writing with this I keep thinking about the old commercial ledgers I've seen with the names of people written and lists of their accounts...

This is Mr. Grape.

He grew on a tree near a nuclear power plant.

The Operators of course claim there is no causal relationship between the nuclear power plant and the creation of Mr. Grape.

They see him as a random freak of nature......

Curious, does a vintage Pelican nib fit in a modern Pelican pen then?
