So you swapped the nibs?

Yes, I change the nib. The original one had a flat bottom pad, not my preference, depending on the angle it was writing between a fine to medium-broad. I soak the pen for couple of days, get a old tube bicycle tyre rubber grip and pull the feed+nib+breath tube from the barrel, then replace with #5 Edison (JoWo). If attempt this work, just be patient!

I did the the line art and afterwards scanned and printed it for my junior.

Beautiful.

Talk to me / us at length about your gorgeous pen. Always had a soft spot for one. Never pushed the button though.

Yet. :)

Today was a banner day. I had been having a conversation (on another forum) with AAAndrew about vintage Esterbrook stub nibs when he spontaneously decided to send me an assortment of various Esterbrook stubs to try out. His generous gift arrived today, and I have been enjoying them quite a bit. They take some getting used to as they are not quite like the broad edge calligraphy nibs that I am used to (Leonardt, Tape, Mitchell, Brause). I am really having a lot of fun getting to know these new old-school nibs. AAAndrew sent a Jackson Stub 442, Relief 314, Blackstone 284, Chancellor 239, Judge's Quill 312, and Modified Slant 702. I have tried all of them briefly, but today I am playing mostly with the Jackson Stub and the Relief.

I also received my half of a trade with mike.jane, a Triveni Jr. (with a two tone FPR flex nib) and a sample vial of Rohrer & Klingner Salix. I really like the Triveni Jr. and I am having fun with it. Prior to this pen all of my experience with flex nibs came from dip pen flex nibs (which are obviously quite different from modern fountain pen flex nibs), so there is a bit of a learning curve. I am starting to get the hang of flexing with it.

I haven't done anything significant with these pens, just some fooling around, but it has been fun.

I stained it with Minwax red mahogany wood finish and threw a light coat of wax on top. The unfinished wood was getting ink stained, so I figured that a nice dark stain coupled with some wax would prevent further staining and cover up what was already there.

I'm pretty sure any of the bots would try to hit on it after the party :P
