Coop: Nice test, thanks for posting it. Pleased you found an ink that would do the job, and didn't break your finances. ;)

SNAK: The drop is deliberate, I offset the left side 1/8th (0.125) of an inch when I drilled it. I did so because several of my pens I'd stored nib-up were hard starters, on occasion requiring a rinse under the tap. In case you wondered, it's made from American hickory, graciously donated to the Cause by Steve Wall Lumber Co. in exchange for a palty thirty dollars. ;) The finish is a basic oil mix I devised, if you (or anyone else on the forum) want the receipe, let me know.

Quick translation:

To live in a luxury flat,

To think you're a millionaire,

To wake up only at noon,

With a girl or two by your side.

To sail far away,

To anchor in every port,

To walk around Paris or Rome,

To live like Casanova.

Never have to work

Or to serve anybody,

Only the head in the clouds,

Hovering so high...

Illusions.

Well, actually a Red Pen of Esterbrook - filled with Diamine Delamere Green and laid down with a fat Osmiroid italic nib!

This one has no glue about the meaning, but it looks darn cool !

Let me add a similar one ;)

I have now tested the Black Permanent. It never dries. :( Sooo disappointed. It smudges after 20 minutes!

:o Is this with a dip pen? What kind of paper were you using?

The pen was a Kaweco Sport with F nib and paper Oxford recycled. It is more absorbent than other Oxford papers. The ink smudged after several hours. There must have been something wrong with with this particular packet of ink. I have other Montblanc inks and they are great.

I'm going to have to crack open one of the Permanent Black cartridges I got a while back to try as samples before buying a bottle...

My unusual choice for the day. Pilot Custom 74 with Pilot Iroshizuku Chiku-rin - Bamboo Forest.

I thought the green would be too light but it's actually a nice change for quick sketches.

I am so impressed by this ink shown by many of you. My chiku rin ink is pale. It never looks like in this picture. Lovely colour :)

Today I write with my Aldo Domani, fitted with a Nemosine 0.8 nib (reground to about 1.3) using Levenger Amethyst. For some reason the Levenger Amethyst feathered a bit on my Rhodia No. 12 graph pad. The Levenger ink has never feathered on me and I have never had an ink feather on my Rhodia, so I was surprised.

I am also playing with my Monteverde Invincia using Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Back. I just received a Fountain Pen Revolution 1.0 nib in the mail today, and am still getting used to the new FPR 1.0 nib. The new nib is very different than any other italic that I have and is quite wet when combined with the Monteverde feed, but I am working with it.

I am not a connoisseur of Montblanc pens, so I hope that I have acquired a nice specimen. The price seemed quite reasonable, so I jumped at the chance.

This looks to be a 1980s (??) Meisterstück 149. Impressive in size, compared to the only other Mb I have —a tiny (in comparison!) 144 in Bordeaux, that my father left to me.

There is a thread on the Montblanc forum on dating 149s. You have a bicolor 14k nib, and believe I espy a slight line just distal to the section threads, meaning that this is a 2-piece barrel. Show us photo of the feed, and that should nail it down. Also, is the shaft visible when you unscrew the piston metal or plastic?

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Thanks for the response. I think I know what you mean about a 2-piece barrel. And yes, there are rectangular windows (like venetian blinds!) to see the ink level. Love the piston fill!
