So my son is 6 and started a couple of weeks ago with school (first grade).

He likes school very much, and points out almost daily that school is much better than Kindergarten. :)

This week he came home and told us that his religious instruction teacher gave also the parents some homework.

They draw a lot in their exercise book (as they can´t write till now ;) ), and this time she told them that they have to color a sheet with flourish and the parents should provide a picture in the middle either a foto or a drawing of the child as a baby.

Of course I´ve choosen the second option and made a pencil sketch last evening (please don´t treat it as a full featured portrait, it´s a quite quick sketch, but I like it) :)

It shows my son sleeping when he was a baby.

I´m curious how many parents also made a drawing and not choosen the foto option ;)

A lovely drawing. So calm - and so emotional. Touching.

Practice, patience, perseverance

These are lovely, did you turn them yourself? I quite envy your writing abilities, I'm attempting to recover some of mine after twenty years in radiography, college and industry.

Ta da!

No, Bill Schmidt is the artisan. He is an American with a passion for wood turning.

EoC thanks you for the comment on the writing but also abashed as it is not that good.

Is Bill Schmidt the person behind Century Pens?

Thanksgiving sneak peek...using my beloved Edison Nouveau Premiere in Cappuccino with a Med nib, perfected by the amazing and sweet nib guru Mike Masuyama. It arrived misaligned...now it's wonderful and I quite altogether LOVe writing with it. Written on G. Lalo Verge de France laid paper. This particular laid paper is rough so it's a bit tricky to remain in control of the pen. The paper however, feels like heaven to touch.

Guess what happened last Halloween evening...... :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

The doorbell rang and when we opened a strange creature flew in front of our house and demanded candies. ;)

Of course we gave it some.

Afterwards it disappeared in the darkness.

We tried to draw it afterwards.

This is another joint drawing session with my son.

I drew the outlines, scanned and printed it for him.

Afterwards we both colored it. :)
