Finally got around to a) Posting in vol. 2 of this thread! and b ) Swapping clips between my Charcoal Safari and Al-Star Copper Orange. It's been crying out for a black clip, to my mind. Ink is Apache Sunset.

Thanks, limt.

Here's a test with the Pilot Elabo (SF), which arrived in the mail today. Ink is Shin-Kai, paper is Tomoe River.

Nice handwriting! :)

But please be careful not to spring that nib. It's not made to be flexible as in opening up the tines like a soft dip pen nib, so trying to make it do that could easily spring it. Judging from the pressure imprint on the TR paper from the previous sheet (a la Sherlock Holmes deduction :eureka: ) the nib has been pressed down quite hard on the paper.

What ink did you use? I like the shading.

Sorry you said what ink it was. Didn't read it properly as I was staring at your photo! :headsmack:

Lovely pen and splendind handwriting!

Too many sub-standard experiences with vintage pens and sellers*, and in one memorable case a spectacularly offensive restorer.

It doesn't sound crazy. I have a very similar experience.

This pen has blown me away.

I have always heard about how springy and responsive gold nibs can be, but I had not experienced it despite owning several gold nibbed pens until today.

This nib feels amazing. It feels nothing like the nails I'm used to. It is so soft and fun to write with. I've heard complaints of skipping or hard starting with Sonnets. Not here. The pen is consistent as can be.

It's not just the nib, either. The Sonnet is just genius design. The lacquer is warm and pleasant to touch, the weight is light but substantial. The cap posts and caps with ease and yet authority. The dimensions are neither too large, nor too small. The design is attractive but unassuming. This pen is a game changer, for me.

I believe it is a 90s model. I can seriously say this is the best pen I have ever used, by far.

Oh I didn't mean to rain on your parade, I am sorry it it came across that way.

I myself did a "flex test" on an SB nib on my resin black Falcon as soon as I received it, and sprung the nib within 3 minutes of pushing the cartridge into the brand new pen. :wallbash:

That was 2 years ago, but the painful memory is still fresh in my mind. It took me almost a year to look at it again but I have managed to take the nib out and push the tines back together so it is working fine now. I didn't dare make the same mistake on my red resin SM nib, so whenever I see or hear someone pushing the Falcon/Elabo a bit hard, I get all hyper. I am sure you will find your perfect balance and I really hope that you'll enjoy your pen.

Now that's what I am talking about! That pen can do wonderful things in the right hand.

Your hand is beautiful, as always.
