Sorry, terrible photo.

Actually a pretty good photo, and I just love to put Osmiroids in my Esties, especially when I get a fun ink. Nice writing!

And I love your old birds!

Skysora, love that Esterbrook ink combo.

Showed the Herbin to my wife last night and even she was impressed. I'll have to remind her of that when the bottles start showing up. (yes, plural)

Amberlea, have you seen the new Levenger purple pen with the twist in the barrel (think it's called Facets)? Looks pretty sweet. I also like the Olive, another unusual pen color.

Today I was playing with my Hunt Companian Round Pointed No. 21, and Diamine Registrar's ink on cotton paper. It's not turning black as quickly. Must be the cotton.

Nice! :) Some love for Osmiroid nibs. They are such fun and such a small price (generally).

And that's some super calligraphy there. Making me jealous! <heads off for some practice>

Your progress on pointed nib calligraphy is excellent. Maybe I should stop mucking around with toys and concentrate more on my penmanship. :D

Rescued this poor looking nib from the bay. Restored nib width is 4.75mm x 26mm. I assume a feed of 4.5mm diameter would fit this pen nicely.

Does anyone know if there is a pen with feed diameter of a bit smaller than the TWSBI 580 (fitting too loosely)? Prefer a demonstrator and a LONG cap .. These dip nibs are strangely long, thus requiring long cap space.

Thanks.

Oh, and these old things got an airing too. A bit wasted in my hands, but there it is.

I have not seen a Blackbird with barrel chasing in that type of pattern. Very nice pen!

The Swan Minor was a random eBay acquisition. The other two are both from our esteemed FPN colleague Cob. The Blackbird was the first Mabie Todd I have ever seen. Far too nice for the likes of me, but it is mine! :)

What a joy with my new found Franken Pen! A small mod of breather hole, added wetness just like a dip pen without having to dip. I am BOTTLE FREE. LIBERATED. REVOLUTION!

Woah!!!!

Ahhhh... Andrew your pointless pen. Amazing work and only 3 wks and counting....

It's great that you are undertaking a pointless task (that didn't sound right.) You know. I really don't know how you could use a dip pen!? There's no point in them! (that didn't sound right, either.) When I use it, it was pointless to me because it kept jabbing into my paper and splattered ink everywhere (hence mine "inked*fingers".) So I must congratulate you on your attempts at mastery in pointless writings, pointlessly.. .(again that didn't sound right..)

Monday morning brought some fun things to play with!

19229918253_08a894f35c_b.jpg

I find the TWSBI Eco pens are suitable for franken projects and swapping nibs out just as well as TWSBI 580 or Mini, and the nib and feed are actually much easier to pull out than 580/Mini. The Eco uses the same nib and feed as Mini. But because of the looser fit of the nib/feed in the section (internal diameter of section is just a smidgen wider), the franken nib/feed setup that used to fit in 580/Mini can be too loose for the Eco. So that was a little unexpected for me. But the good news is, slightly larger vintage nibs will fit Eco. I find that Waterman #4 size nib (which I used to put into my Vac 700) fit in the Eco section with 5mm diameter feed. It seems this new pen will give me more opportunities for experimentation so it’s going to be fun!

Pens:

TWSBI Eco Black with vintage Pelikan CN nib and FPR ebonite feed (Akkerman #28 Hokfwartier Groen ink)

TWSBI Eco White with stock Broad nib (Montblanc Pink ink)

Paper: Tomoe River (White)

Does the Eco have the same nib as the 580?
