Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Monday morning brought some fun things to play with!

19229918253_08a894f35c_b.jpg

I find the TWSBI Eco pens are suitable for franken projects and swapping nibs out just as well as TWSBI 580 or Mini, and the nib and feed are actually much easier to pull out than 580/Mini. The Eco uses the same nib and feed as Mini. But because of the looser fit of the nib/feed in the section (internal diameter of section is just a smidgen wider), the franken nib/feed setup that used to fit in 580/Mini can be too loose for the Eco. So that was a little unexpected for me. But the good news is, slightly larger vintage nibs will fit Eco. I find that Waterman #4 size nib (which I used to put into my Vac 700) fit in the Eco section with 5mm diameter feed. It seems this new pen will give me more opportunities for experimentation so it’s going to be fun!

I like the inks and the journal that you used much better than the pens themselves.

In my opinion the Eco is not an attractive pen..

But that's ok. After all, the 580 is still available!

Thanks for the early pictures! :)

Hey everyone! A few days ago, I gifted a friend their first fountain pen. We will have another one joining the flock soon! :P

I honestly can't put my Duofold down. It is such a fantastic pen - so much so I can hardly find words for it.

I may start posting here a little more often again too! :)

We hope you do start posting here more often. Great looking pen, handwriting and one of my favorite inks!

After a long hiatus, I picked up the pen (a Lamy Safari) again today. Seeing the beautiful ink flow onto the page filled me with joy.

Ohhh I like that light greenish brown. I love Inaho too.

Did you get your Eco in the same shipment? (I was paying attention to what you wrote in another thread).

Skysora, these demonstrator piston fillers are not much different from your Doric with vacuum filler (filling mechanism is different obviously) in that the ink is right inside the barrel that you are touching, unlike the cartridge/converter or rubber sac based system. So if your warm hand doesn't give trouble with your Doric, the TWSBI and Pelikan and all other pens should be okay in your hand too. Why not give it a go? (nudge, nudge ;) )

I love your hand made notebook! Do you stitch up the signatures then glue with PVC? In fact I do the same thing too, making my own Tomoe River notebooks for my journal writing. The thick 1 inch notebook in the photos with my TWSBI Eco is one, using 185 sheets of A4 TR paper to make up a 740-page notebook. That one is the thickest one I did because I needed to make a 10-year diary (1 day per 2 open pages divided into 10 sections for 10 years). Other TR notebooks I make are more or less 400 pages (100 sheets) range, to go in the thinner leather cover. Now I found a setting in my printer that can handle TR paper so I can print ruled lines on each page which makes me excited! I know, little things...

I still buy the Nanami Paper's Seven Seas notebooks for the finished look but I like my own too.
