Writing Christmas Cards with Esterbook J's and 9788 nibs.

Magnificent - the only word I need write to express my opinion of your penmanship.

I wish I had been on your card recipient list.

Merry Christmas!

Yesterday I wrote the first verse of a Christmas poem by Lucia W. Eames c.a 1909 titled At Christmas-Tide

Edit: Oops, forgot the pen

The pawn is definitely penned.

Merry Christmas my inky friends!

Vienna is treating us with love and we're enjoying the holidays.

Christmas brought inky thoughts as well: turns out my Lamy just arrived so I'll be giving the shimmering inks a go on my return to Paris!!

Also, I got an awesome Green Lantern DC fountain pen by Montegrappa as a gift from my wife, so that will need to be inked and enjoyed on my return.

I hope everyone had wonderful Christmas!

Best,

Diplomaat

I want to correct that pawn. I can't stand seeing a pawn, splitting black and white. I love the board

The pen set I am using is the Speedball Collectors set gifted to me by my husband. I don't really like the Speedball inks that come with the set so I bought the FW Pearlescent ink set which I am loving very much and the Dr. Ph. Martin's Copper Plate Gold calligraphy ink which works great on both light and dark paper. The ink dries very shiny !

Beautiful set...how nice for you!

Thanks, Attila--that is magnificent!

Thank you so much! I'm happy you like it!

Thanks Attika, I never though how well fountain pens would be for pointillism. I'll have to do some.

They can work really nicely! Especially hard nibs! My Posting nib on the Pilot 912 and the Preppy EF for example are great!

USCF rules say you first have to say "Adjust", then correctly place the piece, without any penalty.

I'm with you though, I'd say "Adjust" pretty loud.

Hahaha... I'm not serious enough about chess to be bothered by the straddling pawn. The board is made in India, the marble texture is quite lovely.

And here's yesterday's pen use. I ended up with a piston filler that writes with super-flex.

Anyone know which dip nib should I use if I want wet-noodle level of flexibility?

Attila, continuously in awe of your pens and writing!

Inkyfingers, that's a very nice looking Jinhao and you put it to good work!

The Montegrappa is inked. I'll post a nice pic tomorrow :)

Shimmering inks are awaiting my getting a converter for the Lamy. I forgot to add it to the order!

Saw a Sailor 1911 with a handground nib that just glided as a champion figure skater on freshly cleaned ice. I am salivating over it...

a Waterman #52 Woodgrain (not sure if it's a Ripple or Woodgrain!

Pelikan Edelstein Ruby ink), and an early Pelikan 100c (J. Herbin Violette [scented] ink).

My wife is a nurse who works nights, and we have one car and one motorcycle. What this means is that when she works during the week, rather than the weekend, I walk my daughter to school. Her school is only about a mile and a half away, so it's no big deal, but it gives us a little bit of time to entertain ourselves. We generally make up stories, my daughter will give me the premise and I will flesh out the details. If she wants the story to go in a different direction, she just stops me and says, "No, this is what happens." or something of that nature. I am working on putting her favorite story to paper to give to her as a Christmas present.

When I get stuck on a part or start to get distracted I write little weird quotes (writing for children is more complex than writing for adults. You have to keep them engaged, without speaking down to them, and still make the story interesting for the adult reader). Lately I have been using a Pilot Plumix for those in between writings. I like the pen, but let me just say that this pen looks EXACTLY like a flat worm! It made me imagine how Hunter S. Thompson might react to the sight of the pen, and resulted in a series of Fear and Loathing quotes.

Pen: Pilot Plumix

Paper: Piccadilly Notebook

Ohhh, I'm doing an essay on this book. I love that bad craziness it oozes.
