To give you an indication of the depths to which I, one of the former mighty and great, have fallen, I read that whole post. head whack.

So, if reading that post can make the mighty and great fall... Imagine what it can do to the writer...

... Never underestimate the power of human stupidity ...

This is a sketch I did for this weeks topic on The Weekly Sketch thread. This week's topic was "Your Favourite Pen" but I couldn't possibly choose just one. These are my current favourite pens.

Watercolour over ink.

Pens sketched are: Montblanc 142 (Green Striated), Pelikan 400NN (Brown Tortoiseshell), Pelikan M101N (Red Tortoiseshell), and Nakaya Mini Decapod in Aka-tame Nuri.

Very impressive.

Pure elegance.

Thanks! Shaeffer Legacies are classics, IMO. In my hand, the most comfortable of all fountain pens. I have always had one since the late 80s.

I am writing a new story, but I took some time off to practice my italic. I've always been a Rudyard Kipling fan (Kim was the first "older" book that I ever read in its entirety), so I decided to write out The Law for the Wolves from The Second Jungle Book. My handwriting has a long way to go, but I like the style and am really trying to force myself to use it all of the time...unfortunately when I am under deadline my Palmer cursive takes over, hopefully with practice this will change.

Pen: JInhao X450 with Anderson Pens (JoWo) 1.1 italic

Ink: Chesterfield Archival Vault

Paper; Staples Arc Notebook

Jabberwock, there is another who loves the man. Kipling has long been my hero, he and his fox terrier Binko, who could bark and get the ox carts out of the way. He won me over in grammar school with "The Way Through The Woods", as powerful a verse as exists in the hearts and soul of man.

Pure elegance.

Congrats! Great pen, impressive writing sample.

It looks like Sheaffer's Day, uh? Here's another one (or two):

Sheaffer Lifetime Balance (short slender), with a wartime Triumph Valiant in the background.

Beautiful photo.

I have a restored Sheaffer Valiant snorkel and another smaller one that looks like your Balance.

An early Solstice present for myself —the large, and full-bodied Sheaffer Legacy II with a magnificently broad stub nib! <momentarily singing, and dancing>

The nib is amazing!

Ooooohh. That nib is something. First Amberlea showed us hers, and now you!

Looks like a great fit for your hand!

I read the whole page too! And well done finishing just at the end of the line on the last line. It resembles what I write on my journal most times. Often I just write to look at the ink come out of the pen and to see the ink dry on paper. Pretty sick, isn't it? But I thought people on this forum might understand... :)

Thank you so much for your kind words. There are many beautiful sketches by others on The Weekly Sketch thread (https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/299660-the-weekly-sketch-themed-drawing-prompts-for-members/). People are showing creative ways to use pen and ink! And penwash, with your talent, any chance of future contribution of sketches there too? :)

Edited: I'm not sure if that link works. The thread is inside The Fountain Pen Network -> Creative Expressions -> The Write Stuff.

Part three in The Monochrome Project. Written with a Ranga Model 4C, Parrot Green material, JoWo #6 Broad, Koh-I-Noor Document Ink. This is my first eyedropper fill with this pen, and it works really well, with not a hint of blobbing or expanding air putting pressure on the ink. Maybe it will get worse as I continue emptying the reservoir, though it will probably hold its ink better than the Fellowship Pillar. The wet broad nib certainly takes advantage of the monstrous ink capacity.

@Highbinder - I love the Pelican. I know very little about the others.

Yeah the Pelikan is great! Wet, springy, with feedback. Lovely to write with, but quite fragile and temperamental with flow - I bought the Platinum 3776 in order to retire the 140 from daily carry, and so far it seems similar, in a sort of modern vs vintage way. It's got a springy nib with feedback, and so far I'm loving it! It cost me almost four times as much as the 140 tho! Shhhh!

Of the others I'd highly recommend you check out the Montblanc 14 and other two digit models. Because of the styling (I suppose) they're not as sought after as other vintage MB and so do not command the same premium, but the writing experience / nibs are just lovely!
