Man this thread is incredible!

With all the vintage lately on here, thought I could share a few... Bit of a gold nib round up...

A round up conjures herding in my brain, so I'm picturing the nibs trotting along on their delicate tines. Hmm, that won't do. Maybe we should stick to hoarding instead.

Nice vintage collection!

Nice pens and drawings Prvt Toter :)

Also an interesting notepad - can I ask what it is?

Thanks, the note pad was an advertising handout at a conference... it has no name on it and has clear plastic covers...BUT, works well with fountain pens.... lucky find... had I known at the time, I would have grabbed a few more...LOL

If you think everything is going well... you obviously have no idea what is really going on!

My first sketch for many a month and this one goes out to Sinistral1.

I've often wondered if I chose the wrong ink between Sailor Brown Algae and Sailor Cigar.

Still not sure, but I knew going to The Henry Moore Foundation for an afternoon to see his incredible bronze sculptures that Brown Algae had to come along too.

The way its colours split into greens and blues and yellows when washed was perfect. Glad I made time after lunch for this quick sketch. More to come soon that I've broken my dry spell . . .

Yay to you for breaking the dry spell, Tas! Very nicely drawn, did you use the waterbrush for the wash? Split dyes look really interesting. I look forward to being able to see more of your beautiful sketches.

Ahhh, perfectly matched ink/pen combinations. I love them.

I need to order more from Diamine and get those little sample size vials of the Flower inks!

Just came across a nice vintage Mabie Todd Swan 142/32 with the prettiest cap I've seen for a while. The nib is very nice with a bit of flex for those of us who like that sort of thing... :D

Your pen is very pretty but your expressive flex writing is gorgeous!!

it does look like a lovely blue. I may have to copy your formula if that is ok. Also, I love that pen, nice blue and elegant!

Lovely photos, pen, ink mixture, everything!

Sargasso Sea and Sapphire Blue are indispensable component of my own blue ink mix as well! I really like how they add that serious cobalt kick (sapphire) and intense dye concentration (sargasso) to any mix, but wow the smell of them is something ... interesting. I even panicked when I first used Sapphire Blue a while ago thinking the bottle was mouldy!

Thank you for comments! I love the kick from Saragosso Sea in the mix with other blue inks and I think if use by itself is too strong and a bit dry. And remember to use a small vial when mixing inks, maybe you don't like the composition or bad reactions...

Cheers!

This is a really beautiful pen. The Soft Medium nib is wonderful.

Lovely looking pen. I am trying to imagine it as an eyedropper. With a good ink, those facets on the barrel and some soft sunshine...

I thought that was an Eboya at first glance. Another pretty pen and nice handwriting, too. Thanks for posting this.

I love the pen porn! Thanks Snak, I'm enjoying the Diamine Flower set. Zaphrod, that color collection is stunning. Meha, I have a bamboo with a broad stub that is stunning, it's a wonderful writer.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).
