Suetterlin! So cool. Wish I had enough patience for it.

Somehow, I think you do have the patience for it. I've got to give it a go myself.

Ptero, I heard the rumour about the Robot Party. I am sending in my favourite robots of all time. I hope they will have a grand ol' party.

I did what I promised myself I'd do on Fountain Pen Day. Made a fresh coffee, loaded a new ink and worked on a new sketch with a much loved but unknown pen (bought for 99p on ebay).

This was an apartment postbox spotted in Venice with an obviously new tennant, "ZG"

(full sketch here)

Ink (lines) - Noodler's Subway Series Sepia (thank you white_lotus. This sketch will soon be on its way to you as a small token of my appreciation)

Ink (wash) - J Herbin Gris Nuage

Pen - No idea but a wondrously expressive Faber Castell 3 nib

Paper - Cass Art Watercolour 300gsm

Coop:

Nice to see you've got it whipped. I must confess, I don't use brass stock on my nibs, I have an old Craftsman machinist's feeler gauge with a mixture of brass and steel gauges which go from 0.002 inches up to probably 0.010 inches. But then again, I'm the type to re-grind nibs using a 900-grit diamond stone (well, to start, anyhow). Note the "machinist's," the mechanic's gauges are much coarser, should you decide to look for one.

Ta,

Leon

It sure does. Neat sketch, great choice of ink for the subject matter.

I'm sorta new here (and new to fountain pens in general).

Does this count as showing how a pen is used?

Good point, Ptero. I may have spoken out of turn. I think maybe a "mentorship" program would be good, where you send me all your pens until I get enough posts to be senior. What do you think?

Fantastic!

I love them!

You catched them very well.

I also took a look at C-3PO before, but I thought he will be quite difficult to draw, so I took the Command Droid instead.

Thanks for posting them :)

mehandiratta- Thanks for naming the pens. I'm on FPN and other pen sites daily, trying to learn more about pens and how they work but not attempting to familiarize myself with some of the more esoteric (to me) brands. It's good to see that you have such a range of pens. i'm sure you enjoy them!

Though, upon second glance, I realize only three of those brands are unfamiliar to me. Perhaps my knowledge is broader than I think!

Eli Thanks and your robots are so characterful and bursting with expressions! Love them.

Tas That #3 nib is really pretty! And your photography skills brings out the details wonderfully. Your expressive lines and the warm and cool ink colours make the drawing POP!
Attila That’s the classic Garfield! My kids are watching computer generated Garfield sometimes, and I much prefer the original organic look like you did there.
Ptero Hello Optimus Prime! I wonder what all those robots are going to drink at the big Party. Motor oil? And dance to what music? What's that music that goes "domo arigatto mr. roboto" over and over again? That's so 80's isn't it, showing my age now... :P
uemuraw I wonder how many people in the world are sipping their coffee and scribbling something with their shiny black fountain pen in the morning? I'd like to imagine that there would be many, and that brings a smile to my face. Mine was a half black, half silver Pilot Elite this morning. Coffee was a latte with a mix of South American, Ethiopian, and Indonesian beans blend.

Wow, that's unobtainium right there! How does the #10 nib write? Any flex?

Thanks for showing us.

I haven't cleaned or inked it yet, so it's just a dip sample.

Every time I pick it up I feel like screaming "NO REGRETS!!!!"
