French Pen, Possibly Swell

I won this lovely pen on eBay. The nib was not the selling factor; as you can see, it's a mess. The clip, though, caught my eye, and I've always loved the look of Red Ripple. I've photographed it against the backdrop of The Hermetic Museum's Alchemy & Mystery (Alexander Roob) along with my vintage Max Neiger Art Deco lapis lazuli and glass necklace. Lapis and lions are frequently mentioned in ancient alchemical texts, and the face on the clip is reminiscent of a lion's or that of a Green Man's.

Thank you, JuliaFond. Yes, I'm thinking it's circa 1920s-1930s. I won't be writing with it until I either get the nib repaired or replaced. It's out of alignment and is not tipped.

Ground untipped nibs often make very good smooth writers. It isn't that you will write so much with it to need the hardened tip to extend its life.

It's definitely a green man on the clip.

The nib is actually out of alignment, and I would prefer a tipped nib. I will, in fact, use this pen quite a bit as I do love my French pens.
