What's Everyone's Opinion On The Lamy Studio Gold Nib?

I have a Royal Red with extra fine nib. It is very smooth, but a bit too broad for me, even being the EF version.

Same here. Both my EF's write like M's!!

Seems that Lamy is not able to grind really fine gold nibs...unfortunately.

I have the gold nib in EF on the Studio Platinum. One of the best writers I own. I'm a lefty and have found by quarter-turning counterclock, I get a very nice line variation. It does run larger than the steel EF and the gold on the the 2000. If I could refit every one of my pens (all but my Optima) I would do so in a minute...it's all that!

What's the least expensive source for the Lamy gold nibs in the US?

I'd like to know this as well.

I really like the feel of the gold nib but would much prefer a finer extra-fine nib.  Would a nib meister have success narrowing one down for me?  Any suggestion of who would do it and make a nice job of doing so?

EEF and EEEF. FPnibs does.

I don't know if you already have the nib and want to have it narrowed. I'm not sure if FPnibs would adjust one you send him.

I've gotten my best deals on Lamy's gold nibs at Endless Pens.  They were a particularly good deal when you catch one of their sales.  I much prefer Lamy's gold nibs to their steel ones.  I have replaced the nibs in all my Lamy pens with gold ones.  They just feel more "lively" (maybe that is what people mean by springy).  I agree with what everyone said.  They do tend to write slightly wetter and broader than the comparable steel nibs.
