I am using a MacBook Pro 15" 2.6GHz 512Mb VRAM latest multi-touch version with all system updates... a fresh copy of the database... and still the same thing... as per the pic

it opens as the pic shows... and within about 5 secs or so drops out completely

:hmm1:

I ran recover from the file menu then ran the recovered file. The alert box appears, but with 2 fields forename/surname.

Sadly the app still wont run on my MBP 15 with FM 7.3 All of the different views are on top of each other :crybaby:

Is it possible to sort alphabetically first by manufacturer, then by model? It seems to sort by manufacturer, then by date of acquisition.

Love having this program! Thank you!!

Hi jonro,

thank you for this great piece of software! I am working my pens in and I am loving it!

Just one request: Could you make an option to not show prices?

If you show someone something in the database, you don't necessarily want them to see what you paid...

Thank you for this software!

Fred,

Thanks for the kind words! You can sort on multiple fields by selecting Sort from the Fountain Pens menu or by using the Cmd-S keyboard equivalent.

I imported my collection from an Excel spreadsheet last March. I was doing OK with Excel, but Jonro's program is so much better! One of my favorite features is the ability to manage photos of the pens. Two questions:

1- Once you import photos, do you import them into the file itself or do you just point to a file in the drive? In other words if you erase the file from your computer do you still see it in the database.

2- The number of pens in inventory at the bottom left corner says 88 pens, however I have well over 200. Where does the 88 come from? How can I correct the number of pens?

Great job!

Thanks,

-Mario

Mario,

The default is that photos are imported into the database. When you select a photo, there is a checkbox that allows you to import a reference. I recommend staying with the default, but the choice is yours. The number of pens is the number of pens that haven't been sold. If you have had 200 pens, but 100 of them have a date in the Date Sold field, it will display "100 pens in inventory."

Keep enjoying the database!

Jon:

That explains it. When I imported the original Excel spreadsheet I noticed that one of the fields I was using was imported into the date sold field. So 88 pens is the number of pens that I have manually entered since the import. However, I have been manually erasing the content of the date sold field and it doesn't change the total. Is there a way to recalculate after I clear all the date sold entries?

Thanks for sharing your hard work.

Hello Jon

I have just downloaded it and it is very impressive but it has made me realise that I have got a lot of work to do to record all of my pens. I am sure that it will be worth it in the end. Fantastic piece of software must have taken some time to plan and design but it was worth it, well done.

Thank you

Bob

Downloaded and had a play. Nice work. It's certainly making me think a little more analytically about how to classify my stash - no bad thing.

...and a Coffee database? I'll have to look into that as well!

Many thanks.

Hi jonro,

Thanks for creating and sharing this great application for us. Now that I've entered my collection I'm interested in writing reviews for my pens. When completing the FPN Review section and hitting the Create FPN Review button no action seems to correspond with that task. Is this a future feature you'll be implementing? Is it outputing a formatted template in another location? Thanks in advance, Mac

The formatted review is saved to your clipboard. You can paste it into the message box when you post your review to FPN. You can also paste it into a word processor, if you wish.
