How about a direct export into a Schedule C*?

Just kidding.

Hello Jon, many thanks for the database. It has been a big help for me.

I did however do an export and I noticed that it doesn't seem to list all the pens. Well duplicate pens. So if I have 2 Pelikan Brown tortoise with one fine and one medium nib they both don't show up.

Now my first thought is that I have mangled the settings somehow but I wanted to know if you had encountered this before.

many thanks

Philip

Hello all,

This is my first time on this site and well obviously posting *smile*. I had NO idea there was such a site...EXCELLENT. I love great writing tools and I don't have a collection as of yet I do have an eye for them. I have this pen that is almost out of ink YIKES!!! I don't even know where I got it from but I LOVE it and the name on it was Montex....I googled and here I am. My question to you all (hopefully some one will give me guidance and direction) is where do you purchase these Montex pens from. I have a simple pen but simplicty can be heavenly and in this instance it is *smile* I believe it a gel pen. A label on the pen at the top which is barely hanging on states German Fluid Ink Swiss Tip. If anyone can identify with my description here please please please help me. I want more of them or atleast a full one.

Any help with this will obviously be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks kindly,

Exude

Hi Exude,

You might try posting this question in the Writing Instruments forum - I only found it by accident because I was reading this thread. So Montex is an Indian pen company and it looks like they do not sell pens directly to customers. I don't have any advice for you on where to buy them. BUT, my suspicion is that you could figure out how to refill your current pen - try asking how in another forum (posting pictures will help).

Welcome to FPN!

This is so awesome! I didn't realize when I downloaded it that it's for inks, too. I haven't used Filemaker before, it's very intuitive and I really like it. Thanks for sharing your work.

too bad it doesn't work on win vista, because my main working computer came preloaded with vista crybaby.gif

I'm running Vista, and it works great! Did you unzip it? Right-click on the folder and scroll down to extract. I created a new folder on my desktop (named it CompleteInventoryFolder) for the unzipped file. When I opened the new folder with the unzipped program, I right-clicked on the folder for the Inventory, and sent it to my desktop and named it FountainPenInventory.

Great program!

I am trying to import my pen inventory, which I keep on an Excel spreadsheet. Any tips on how to do that?

Thanks for sharing your work.

I did unzip it. I don't know... for some reason, the results in all my attempts to run it were consistent: can't see it anywhere except in task manager. I'll have to try it again some time.

This only confirms my first impression of this forum - what a thoroughly wonderful set of people. Just re-kindling my love of pens - I too shall be donating to the site as a thank you.

  • 2 weeks later...

unfortunately it will not load in Mac OSX 10.5.2 (Leopard)... sort of loads with an "Alert" dialog box over the database window (which looks as it sould) but there is nothing in the alert dialog and then it quits... pity was great under 10.4 (Tiger)

cheers Trevor

Try to right-click the application file, click the compatibility tab, and select "run this program as administrator", click apply, close and restart the program. Sometimes Vista is a little finicky about privileges for non-microsoft programs (surprise!).

Worked fine for me in Leopard (10.5.2).

What sort of system are you using? (I guess I can't shed the job when I go home, can I?)

I am using a MacBook Pro 15" 2.6GHz 512Mb VRAM latest multi-touch version with all system updates... a fresh copy of the database... and still the same thing... as per the pic

it opens as the pic shows... and within about 5 secs or so drops out completely

I'm an Apple QA engineer, I look at console logs every day for clues.

It's a memory error that leads to the issue, but I haven't seen this one before. It's trying to release memory that hasn't been allocated. Since this is a Filemaker runtime, it's not like it's anything in the FPN database that did it; it's the runtime.
