This is my Sailor Tagayasan Iron Wood; I love it to death and the wood feels amazing. Before this pen caught my eye, I had associated all wooden pens with cheap kit pens. After this pen and a book on the fountain pens of Japan, I realized that I had never been more wrong. Japanese pen manufacturer's make wooden pens with respect and a certain dignity I have yet to see elsewhere.

Finally, this Sailor 1911 Ivory was a gift from my girlfriend and another favourite writer of mine.I have pens much more expensive than it, but I always return to my Iron Wood and my 1911S. Pardon the poor pictures!

WHAT IS THIS PEN?!!!?!?!?!??! I really would like to know, could you tell me what pen is this is????

I also have a few other questions for you, hope you don't mind me stalking you a bit on baidu...

Do you have a Hunminjeongeum pen, by the way?

And do you know what the name of the last pen is this picture? (https://i.imgur.com/M2tbcoC.jpg)

Thanks sooo much!! :D

Zaddick wrote this earlier -- and excuse me for the brief digression -- <... I think the paper is pretty FP friendly, though not at nice as Rhodia or Black and Red books. They met two important criteria: free and available in the office...>

Actually, it isn't so very long ago that A4 "legal pads" were all fountain pen-friendly! It's a shame. This thread is quite mouth-watering.

Thanks for the sharing the photos of the gorgeous pens. Here's my contribution. It's the latest Namiki 2015 Limited Edition Kabuto.

My god, that is a beautiful pen with exquisite maki-e :)! Would love to own a pen like this in the future.

Some new toys came in a few days ago and I wanted to share. Apparently Danitrio is clearing out some older stock where they have only one or two pens. They are trying to reduce the number of SKUs in their stock room. This opened up some good opportunities for me, but not at the best time financially! Oh well, sometimes you just can't pass up an opportunity.

The first pen is called Squirrel with Grapes and is on a Takumi pen. I know they used a similar design on an older pen done on buffalo horn, but I had never seen this pen before and could not find another example of it on the net or here. I love the raden grapes and how they even put in little dots for the bottom of a grape. I don't think that actually accurate in terms of nature, but it is an interesting detail. The grapes remind me of my late father as he was a huge wine aficionado and collector. I picked this up as a tribute pen for him. The squirrel is more cartoonish than accurate, but it was not the focus for me so I am fine with it. We have a lot of resident squirrels in my neighborhood and I like watching them paly. One other aspect of the pen that I like is that the back side away from the raden also has some nice maki-e work. Often the Dani pens have a rather plain "back side."

The next pen is called Clear Stream and is on a Densho. This is a chinkin pen (my first one) and has some type of fish all over it. I love the great detail on the fish and how they are offset on the cap and body. When the pen is closed, the tails from the cap are in line with the heads on the body. I have seen this pen listed by Winedoc before and it is currently listed on the Danitrio website. I bought it because of the exquisite detail on the fish, the fact I did not have a chinkin pen, and it reminds me of my honeymoon where we saw salmon spawning and just filling up the stream in Alaska.

Finally (Yes, I could hardly believe myself that I somehow bought 3 Dani pens in one go!), I bought a prototype Takumi pen. This is one I have not seen on a pen before. It is Ikkan-bari which is basically paper-mache with lacquer over it. They put thin pieces of paper on the pen and then paint urushi over it. It is apparently regarded as a high grade technique of urushi painting in Japan. The end result gives the pen a matte finish and paper like texture. I understand in Japan, they traditionally use persimmon juice for coloration, and I think this is why the pen has that ripe persimmon color. Apparently there were challenges with the method as the artisans only made maybe 3. I had never seen another so I could not resist. I like their prototype pens. I think this is the third of their pens which I have that never made it to regular production.

The final bit of happiness for me is the fact I was able to get all of them with stub nibs as they are my favorite. The only thing better would be of they had been the soft stubs, but apparently they are hard to locate now.

Exquisite.

I have only two Danis -- a Fellowship (currently a Daily Carry) and a Komori (Takumi). I very much enjoy writing with them (with steel nibs, hehe; I have the original gold nibs, but... I don't know. I like the steel nibs.).

The grapes on the first pen (above), the execution of the fish design, and the prototype -- all lovely.

Is takumi something different to maki-e? Please educate me, someone -- Zaddick?

Earlier this year was my 10th anniversary at work, and my wife agreed to buy me a new, more expensive fountain pen to commemorate the occasion. I picked the Pilot Justus 95 with a FM nib in the net black pattern. I took a quick picture of it sitting on my desk at home, uncapped, with the mini-bottle of Pilot Iroshizuku Asa-gao ink I bought to fill it. It's a nice pen and the adjustable nib tension does have some visible effect on the resulting writing, which kind of gives me multiple pens in one. :)

Nice one stan. It reminds me of the marbled paint pencils I loved so much in grade school. When, approximately, was that made?
