I can see it's a Pilot, but which flavour?

Nice looking pen by the way.

Here are my two most recent Japanese pen purchases - a Danitrio and a Stylo Art.

Nice looking pen by the way.

It's an original Pilot Justus (from 1979-1981), it has a bit of a different design than the Justus 95 (this has a smaller nib, smaller body, ridges on the body, etc). It's a very nice pen, and unlike the Justus 95, the nib can actually be classified as semi-flex and is very nice to use. The bar on top serves as tension adjuster and can be moved back and forth by rotating the front of the section. It can make the nib go from very soft to almost nail-hard.

That is a Pilot Justus, but I can't tell if it is one of the original issue or the resurrected "95." I have 2 originals (F, M) and a wooden body one...

Thank you both.

Re the tension adjuster - learn something every day.

I was planning to avoid what I foolishly assumed to be fussy, scratchy Japanese pens - now these three are in constant, joyful use and relegated the others to storage. Left to right, Sailor 1911 Full-Size Rhodium, Sailor Professional Gear Imperial Black, Pilot Custom 823 all in fine. They each truly keep getting better the more I use them. Love the previous Black Luster picture, wow!!

The Pilot Custom 823 - I hoped to show the beautiful cap band and how nice the clear 823 looks with Take-sumi ink but my photo skills are woeful. Not a fan of gold furniture but boy, it sure works on this pen.

I happen to have Take-sumi in my clear Custom 823 right now (but with a medium nib). Magnificent pen!

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

It is exactly magnificent - it was the pen I was least certain about but has been in constant, primary use since it arrived. That said I blame Namo's stunning picture that now I am on the Sailor Black Luster order page trying to rationalize it...

May I inquire if you decided to order and from whom? Feel free to tell me none of my business, I just want to order this Sailor as well and looking for a safe seller.

Sure, no problem. I did not order yet but I will likely order from e-sell_jp when he has that pen in fine. He's been exceptionally helpful so far in 5 or 6 orders. You are familiar with the Sailor 1911 sizes and know this is the larger 1911?

Oh I did not know that, it can be very confusing!

Don't worry - it is confusing. If you want to send me a message or email I am happy to give you some links to see the sizes and explain the differences.

Thank you Steelblue, extremely kind of you again. Will do now.

Pulled out another Danitrio today. This one is less commonly seen. It uses a bokashi-nuri technique where two different color urushi coatings are blended. This pen is green with beige colored bands. It has the older Jowo nib before they switched to Bock.
