Waterman Absolute Brown—A Handwritten Review

Here is Waterman Brown (I hate the name "Absolute Brown"). It's one of my favorite brown inks. It's well behaved, has an attractive and subtle green sheen when it's laid on thick, it's cheap, and it's widely available.

This ink used to be "Havana Brown" before they changed the packaging. As far as I can tell, the ink is the same. Always one of my favorite browns. Thanks for the review.

This is my go to brown ink. Great review! I hate the new names Waterman gave their inks but I rather that change than the actual inks like we saw with Sailor and Caran d'Ache

This was my favorite ink in an Elysee in brown marbled lacquer with a wet fine point. When I mislaid that pen, I tried the ink in a number of other pens, but for some reason none of the combos clicked. I might give it another try in a cursive italic.

I have it in one of my Lamy Al-Stars and use a fine nib and I find it great for personal letters to my Franciscan family and friends, I also use it in my journal when on silent retreats. It is a good ink and it looks it the part. Great review thank you very much.

i have a bottle of this ink. i find it more on the reddish tone instead of brown. thought it is a decent ink, i don't think it should be called 'absolute brown'.

I recently filled an Omas that has a wet, fine, extra flexible nib, and I fell in love with this ink immediately.

Now to dig out that big wet stub...

Havana Brown could be any shade of brown. This ink is Brown-Red. It should not be called, "Absolute" Brown. Absolutely not!

This is my favorite ink. I am currently using it in a TWSBI Micarta with a fine nib, as well as in my Italix Churchman's Prescriptor with a broad italic stub. I love the simple shading that the ink shows in a broad nib.

Waterman seems to have fallen into that touchy-feely abyss in naming their ink. As from the comments here it is anything BUT absolute. Their PR people must be drinking this stuff when they come up with this pap. Their ink is well-respected as a staple that can be depended on writing-wise.

Not sure that you can get much browner, and I am not sure how one determines the word 'absolute' is in anyway touchy-feely.
