To be fair, here's a word or two in general on their inks today. The lame Kaweco site says there are 8 colors. Their catalog ditto. On amazon, and/or ebay (English or German) some sites claim 10. Note that the cartridge boxes only sometimes state which color is in the cartridges. The bottles don't state anywhere what color it is. Wait! I just found for the first time one bottle where the label in fact does say "pearl black". Worse off, it may well be that all colors noted are only available in carts. Only some are available in bottles. That was confirmed by a phone call of mine. 10 Kaweco colors I now see are as follows:

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Name today (November 2016) Old name (English) Old name (German)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Caramel Brown earth brown sepia

Midnight Blue blue black schwarzblau

Palm Green palm green waldgrün

Paradise Blue caribbean turquoise türkis

Pearl Black black schwarz

Royal Blue lagoon blue königsblau

Ruby Red orchid rose rot

Smokey Grey new

Summer Purple lavender aubergine

Sunrise Orange new

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I've heard that the boxes for Kaweco's ink bottles are transparent. Can anyone confirm that?

I have two completely different brown Kaweco inks, and Caramel Brown doesn't produce a chroma test that's anything like Earth Brown, so I don't think they were ever the same.

The new bottles and cartridge packs now all have their ink colours on there. I have the whole set of bottles and cartridges, and they are all labelled with their new colours. You might still find older bottles or cartridge packs though. They didn't have their colours on there.

All of the colours mentioned in the left hand column come in cartridges and bottled ink. Bottles all come in those transparent plastic packs. Mine came directly from Kaweco.

The original Caribbean Turquoise was the closest ever copy of C d'A Caribbean Sea that I've ever seen, and it produces an identical chroma test. The current Paradise Blue is very similar but it slightly different.

Thanks, Chrissy for the very useful and detailed information. I'll buy all of that. My notes above are/were based on what I'd seen and heard from Kaweco on and also offline but that has apparently changed within the last few months. My bottles and a few cartridge six-packs are from the old sort but those are all still available today, again both on and offline. Also, I guess it's a bit like Lamy... a true German company (so to say) which doesn't mind sending things like bottles and boxes to the UK or the west side of the US, but at the same time doesn't love doing that for folks here at home....
