Any Recommendations On A Good Blue-Purple/dark Purple Ink?

I like Bung Box Ink of the Witch quite a bit, but it is very very dark purple. So dark, that it appears to be black out of a wet-writing pen. Cult Pens Deep Dark Purple is not as dark.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Speaking of Kobe Ink #32 Tamon Purple Gray; I recently did an InkTest Tree with some a friend shared and I definitely want a bottle of this particular shade of purple:

I love your drawing. (I hated the ink and gave it away in samples).

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Amber, I think the pink was either Diamine Cerise or Hope Pink, but I have a feeling it was Cerise because Hope Pink would be more fluoro-looking.

I was thinking about trying Bung Box Ink of the Witch but that's a little hard to get. I was also thinking about Kobe Ink #32 Tamon Purple Gray, but I don't really know.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

Edited to add: Tamon Puple Grey is almost black when you write with it. Only when you have pen that lets the ink shade nicely, the light part of the line will look purplish black compared to the dark part which looks black. I don't think it would fit your criteria if you are really looking for visible purple.

I was just thinking of inking up a pen to do a writing sample, so I put Tamon Purple Grey in a pen for you to show you what it looks like. As you can see, it is more black than purple.

There is another good blue purple from Sailor special store series by Kingdom Note, called Sasakia Charonda (O-Murasaki) which I enjoy. It's the latin name of this particular butterfly in Japan. I just remembered it as you mentioned the Japanese companies. I have a writing sample of it from another thread that I posted a little while ago. This ink behaves well just as many other Sailor inks, has great flow, and doesn't stain my demonstrator pens too badly. But purple inks are purple inks, I wouldn't put them in pure white pens for example.

Thank you for those writing samples! That kingdom note sailor ink looks really nice! I will look into trying to get a sample or a bottle of one of those. The Tamon Purple Grey looks like something I would like, though not in fine/EF nibs like i usually use. If I pick up a bottle of that, I'll probably use it with a medium or a stub nib, just so the color can show through.

Thank you for that link! I will definitely scour through it to see if anything catches my eye.

Yeah, Shigure is my favorite ink right now. I'm exclusively using it in my Pilot Custom 74 Violet Demonstrator. It was the first ink I truly fell in love with..

Akkerman # 15 & R&K Scabiosa.

The Voorhout Violet is a tad darker with less shading possibilities.

Part of why I'm not a huge fan of Tamon Purple, is that for me it was more grey and it fades, rather quickly.

My favorite ink is Private Reserve Ebony Purple. At first glance the writing might look as though a black ink was used but there is just enough purple coming through to give it some character. Imagine a dark eggplant color. Very striking.

Thank you both for your writing samples! I'm hearing mixed things about Tamon Purple Grey so it shot down on my priority list. Does anyone have any information on Suma Purple or Sannomiya Panse? I can't really tell what they look like clearly from the samples on cool-japan ebay's store.

Good to know, I'll try to pick up a sample of that when I can.

I have a sample of R&K Scabiosa and I like it. Not for everyday usage for me though. Maybe If I obtain a pen that I feel matches the characteristics of the pen. I'm happy with the sample I have and a bottle is currently on my wish list

Hmmm,...never would have considered Ultramarine to be on the purple spectrum, but I shall to uncap my bottle again.

I actually have Ultramarine inked up in my TWSBI Diamond 580AL in Violet. I like the vibrant blue/purple shade it brings.

I recently bought a bottle of Scabiosa after trying a sample. I am just so intrigued with this ink! It looks so different on different papers, varying from pale lilac gray to purple to black, that it is as if I had introduced several different inks into my collection. It is now one of my everyday inks, a constant reminder to be attentive to subtleties.

Hello,

So purple is my favorite color but I don't really like Brighter shades or red tinted purples. I tend to prefer darker shades of purple/violets and started liking blue tinged purple inks.

I tried out Pilot Iroshizuku Murasaki-Shikibu as one of my first purple inks and although I like it, It doesn't fit my preference for me to be using it everyday. I have tried out Diamine Eclipse and Diamine Grape. Diamine Eclipse seemed too dark and the purple barely seeps through and Grape is a little red tinged for my liking.

The two inks that I have fallen in love with and actually use in daily usage is Sailor Jentle Shigure and Sailor Jentle Ultra Marine. Sailor Jentle Shigure actually fits my dark purple preference. I fell in love with that ink as soon as I started writing with it. It's easily my favorite ink. Ultra Marine for some reason speaks out to me even though it's a little bright. I consider it a blueish purple. Ultra Marine is my second favorite ink.

These are the pens I have inked up with:

Pilot Custom 74 in Violet - Sailor Jentle Shigure

TWSBI Diamond 580 AL Violet - Sailor Jentle Ultra Marine

Pilot Metropolitan - Sailor Jentle Ultra Marine

I was thinking about trying Bung Box Ink of the Witch but that's a little hard to get. I was also thinking about Kobe Ink #32 Tamon Purple Gray, but I don't really know.

This is just perfect! I am too sleepy to look tonight but I must look at this tomorrow. I need an ink that is purple with overtones of black and just enough blue to keep it honest but not to be seen as just another blue. I love Bay State Blue and now need a purple blend that is as striking and as wet. Pray for me because this is not going to be easy.

Well, if you want a purple as striking as BSB ....

Concord Grape or North African Violet. (But they do fade)
