Midnight Blue (Mitternachtsblau) - De Atramentis

De Atramentis is german manufacturer of calligraphy and writing ink. The inks are hand made (the entire production process is done manually in their manufacturing center) by i's founder - Dr. Franz-Josef Jensen. I believe he uses high quality dyes from well established European companies like BASF and Bayer.

De Atramentis offers a variety of "traditional" fountain pen inks and a broad selection of special and scented inks. I believe they should get more attention as the quality od these fluids is very good and some colors are simply stunning.

Mitternachtsblau (Midnight Blue) is well behaved ink but I don't really like the color.

That colors is really nice and what I've been liking lately. Thanks for the review!

So many inks, so little time...

I bought some samples of several DeAtramentis inks, and while the colors were nice, they feathered outrageously on everything, even Apica. Like feathered so bad it was illegible. Indigo was the worst. Is my experience normal?

Love the name, sounds like a band I'd like. Don't like the colour though, shame. Good review!

I've used De Atramentis Indigo and Royal Blue on a number of different papers (Maruman, Tsubame, Tomoe River, Rhodia), with no issues. It did feather on Apica, but contrary to conventional wisdom, I've found the Apica CD paper to make a surprising number of inks feather. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thank you, I always enjoy your reviews. This ink looks very nice, quite similar to Sailor Yama-Dori but without the sheen.

Why are so many inks that are labeled "blue-black" actually dark teal? It's fine if you like that sort of thing, but it's misleading to someone who's looking for a dark blue or a true blue-black. End of rant.

I'm not a fan of teal inks. Thank you for the comparison to Squeteague! Great work as always.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Thanks for the review. I like this ink's color, but not enough to buy a bottle of it.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.
