Are There Any J. Herbin Inks You Would Recommend?

Éclat de Saphir

Café Des Iles

Perle Noire

I disliked Lie de The. Too light and in my experience and oddly never like any of the samples and swabs I see. Cacao du Brésil is nice but the Brown from them I liked was not the much loved Terre de Feu, Cacao du Brésil, or Lie de The but Café Des Iles. That seems to put me in the minority.

Orange Indien is one I want to try.

Just got my third Herbin today, Bleu Nuit. Like the others it is not saturated so lays gently on the page, very easy on the eye. I had expected (hoped for) more of a blue black but it is a little pale and lacks enough shading for that. Still, a nice ink which will get used.

Cacao du Bresil is a strange, almost greyish brown. Despite trying, I don't really like brown inks, but this one does get used. Very unusual.

Poussiere de Lune, others have mentioned this and it is again, a rather different colour. Herbin don't seem to do ordinary.

I did not know about the 1670 edition Gray, your post made me look up the reviews here on the forum. What a beautiful ink, just after I finished saying I did not need more ink!

As a follow up to my previous post I have recently picked up the 1670 Stormy Grey and it is really quite nice. I have not written a lot with it yet so I do not have a full sense of how it behaves on a range of papers but so far it behaves much like my other J. Herbin inks so is something I would recommend.
