I think I still prefer the Maya Lapis, but that one looks very nice. Do you know how it compares to Island Blue (#37)?

I don't, as I haven't ordered #37 yet, but here's a comparison with the Shumi No Bungu Hako Sationery Blue:

 

 

I'd say the #2 is more muted?

I do like that #2. One of the Kobes I hadn't previously considered. Sometimes the softer/less saturated Sailor inks can be a pleasant change. You might have caused me to break my "no more ink for a month" vow! :-)

The sheen in Hatoba Pier Blue is wonderful. To my eye, Maya Lapis' unique character is its saturated violet-tinged blue than any sheen. These Kobe inks and their unique characteristics may prove to be a real wallet-drainer for me .

I think I spoke a little too soon. I do like the Pier Blue, but #14 remains the more interesting ink, I think.

Actually, in my 1911S 21kt H-M, it looks a bit like Sky High; #17 Shitoya Blue is a lot closer to Sky High though, even a nice replacement for it.

In my 1911L 21kt H-B and my MB Meisterstück 144 "M", both wet writers, Hatoba is a sheen monster and is very saturated.

In drier nibs, regardless of their size, the sheen goes MIA and the ink is a lot lighter.
