Sailor Mini With Broken Nib

Recommended Posts

My Sailor mini (daffodil) is one of my favorite pens, but I have damaged the tins on the nib. I write to John's office at Nibs.com, but missed his deadline before he left for his summer vacation.

Can someone recommend other folks who do great work on Sailor's? I miss using it!

Thanks :)

Sorry to hear about your nib troubles. I would heartily recommend Mike Masuyama. This gentleman learned his craft at the Sailor factory.

To add: If Mike's queue is too long for you, then try Pendleton Brown.

Not that I'm saying you shouldn't fix that lovely Sailor nib, but...with a lot of nib swapping and experimenting, I've learned that the steel nib from a Muji fountain pen fits the funny flared feed that's found on the Sailor Sapporos, mini and regular. To get the nib to fit just right you have to push down on the tines to get them to meet the feed tip's curve. Doesn't take too much effort and the fit is impressive, for being a franken-fit nib.

Anyhow, good luck with your mini repair! I love my minis, so I know where you as coming from.
