Visconti Opera Master Demonstrator Review

So recently I decided I needed a few new pens. So I went online, and had a bit of a spending spree. The most expensive of the pens purchased is the one I will be reviewing today, the Visconti Opera Master Demonstrator.

This pen, if you can call it that, has to be the most incredible instrument I have ever seen. It is heavy. And not like, kind of heavy, but really HEAVY. It isn't really practical, but I don't think that was the reason this pen was made. This pen is the first demonstrator I have owned, not really appreciating the design, but this pen is absolutely gorgeous. It uses swirling green and blue lines to make it more than just a clear pen. An absolute beauty.

This pen fills with a eyedropper system. Definitely not my prefered way to fill a pen, but as this pen is more than just a pen, I can see why they did it. Also, as this pen is a demonstrator, you can see the ink moving around inside the pen, which is more than just a little bit cool.

Now to the nib on this pen. It is a 23k Pd nib. Another new experience for me. And it is smooth. It is a medium nib, and really writes a bit wet for a medium, but lays down a nice consistent line on the page.

So what do I think of this pen? Well, it's beautiful looking. It's massive. The nib is nice. And it stands out wherever you take it. But it's not really a practical pen. It is really big.

So do I like it? Yes. Would I recommend it? Yes. But only to someone who has a lot of experience with fountain pens. This pen almost seems like a trophy cabinet pen, not one I would carry around with me every day.

So, If you have a spare $1000 lying around, and are looking for a really snazzy, different fountain pen. I think I've found you one here.

Thought so!

My perspective is that it is more a piece of beautiful art than a usable fountain pen.

Thanks for doing a review of it.
