Have both :) use both :) reach for the Lamy 2K more often though.

Larger ink capacity and feels really comfortable in the hand.

Pop off cap is slower than deploying the vanishing point but faster than a screw off cap.

You'll end up with both but treat yourself to a Lamy 2000 and indulge in some Bauhaus goodness

I am stunned...

This seems like perfection...

Test inking: It feels amazing holding it in the hand and writting with it, just waw.

Only thing left now is waiting for Asa-gao to arrive! ^-^ So that we can finally start the mileage on this beauty.

Thanks for all the replies guys!!!

I have Lamy 2000 and Pilot Capless Decimo and as an EDC I prefer the Decimo. Capless Decimo is a bit thinner then Capless. I

I like L2000 for note taking but I find it very uncomfortable for longer writing sessions. It is a very individual thing, you will find people for whom L2000 will be the most comfortable pen ever made.

It just so happens that the design of the pen does not suit the way I am holding the pen, and the other way around.

The feel of the material is great and snap on cap is handy tho.

Pilot Capless Decimo on the other hand is very practical but the writing experience is at least for me average...So I can see how you would enjoy writing experience with Lamy 2000 better.

They are very different pens. The VP is just about the best 'short note' jotter out there. If you use carts to keep it inked, as I do, it's as convenient as a ballpoint. (Filling it via the converter was just such an unbearable pain, plus, the nib I use is so fine any fancy ink color is wasted on it anyway.)

However, if you sit down at your desk and compare the two pens as strict writers and ignore their conveniences and, in the case of the VP, their appearance (a raden VP is not the same as a regular black one) then the Lamy comes out better. (The Lamy's design is iconic, but very muted.)

The Lamy is lighter and more comfortable in the hand. You can use it longer without hand fatigue.

An important caveat, though, is nib QC. Pilot nibs are, in my experience, always perfect right out of the box. Some Lamys are great, some need a lot of work.

They are so different and have their own qualities; so, I use my Pilot VP Matte black EF for quick note-taking and the Lamy 2000 EF for long writing sessions. The two are equally pleasant to use.

People go on and on about the enormous burden of taking the top off a pen.

Worse still - unscrewing the bugger!

They're right, of course. Life's too short for either of these hideous exertions.

Get a crayon.

It really depends on ones needs and preferences. It does make a difference if you are making brief notes during the meeting and you have to keep screwing the cap on and off every couple of minutes. I don't think it is coincidence that my every day carry pens (P51, P45, Lamy 27) were made at the time when the FP was still the preeminent writing instrument and are designed for ease of use.

Since the FP have become status symbol in the 80s and collectibles in the 00s this is less important and I can see how someone who has the pens for these purposes can struggle to comprehend why some people put so much emphasis on the use of fountain pen as a writing instrument.
